Activity tracking for groups

Description

Band together to improve your fitness by competing in a group fitness challenge. Enlist friends, family, teammates, colleagues, or whoever, to become gym rats. More effective than a simple step challenge, the goal is to workout more often; any activity counts.
-How it works-
* Create or join a group challenge
* Invite as many people as you'd like
* Post workouts to the group
* Keep doing that, a lot
* See the leader board and have fun competing
-Flexibility-
The app is free form and allows for creating your own rules of competition. Score by total number of workouts, miles, minutes, calories, steps, or come up with your own point system. All that's required for a workout is a photo and a title. The photo can be of the gym equipment, a sweaty selfie, a screenshot of another app, or whatever your group deems acceptable.
-Accountability-
Don't care about score? No problem, the app can be used as a general group activity log. Keep each other accountable by having a shared space for tracking workouts.
-Integrates with the Apple Health App-
GymRats has the ability to import workouts from the Apple Health app. This not only includes activities recorded on the Apple Watch, but any activity saved to your device.

This app is so good! You can edit anything you need and you can have several options of what you want the competition to be. You can make or join a group and you ca Bc also leave it. You can text and see who’s in the group. It’s a great app!

Open points?

Swim frsda on

My friends and I use this all the time for group challenges. But, it looks like you got rid of open point style challenges. One challenge we like to do is pick you poison, where each lady picks four possible points a day to get. We all pick our own four points at the beginning of the month and use this ap to track them. It is really fun. But for June, it looks like there is no more open point option. There are these new hustle points, which look super fun for later, but they won’t work for open points. We have also used open points for other challenges where the group says what the points equate to rather than the ap telling us. Please bring back open point tracking.

Easy, simple, and fun

This is perfect!! I love how customizable this is. My friend and I are working out together but hated apps that made you weigh yourself and count calories. We just want to focus on moving and enjoying fitness, not worrying so much about obsessing over macros. We’ve been using this 3 weeks so far and it’s super motivating! I wish you could edit the photo after the workout is posted, though. It would also be nice to see the progress total—such as total number of minutes or distance or whatever goal it is. I’d love an option with a progress bar or percentage showing how far into the challenge you are too. Either way—it’s nice there’s different options like hustle points, which we’re going to try next. PS for those who do want to track calories burned, you can have that option. It also has distance, time, and some other options, too! This is a great app.

Amazing!

Incredible app to keep our collegiate club lacrosse team motivated and having fun over the summer. Would love to see a version of this for other habits - potentially something for hydration? It would be awesome to be able to track and give points for water intake!

Apple sync

Sync with Apple Watch it seems like I have to import each workout instead of it doing it by itself?

Challenges are nice, but import is lacking

Trying to import workouts from Apple Health, but the date is a non-editable field. If you’re going to have multi-day challenges, they should be based on how much physical activity participants undertake (which is supposed to be the point, right?) not on how many participants happened to remember to import their steps by 11:59 pm on any given day

BEST app find for fitness with friends!!

Can’t thank you enough for this simple, easy to use, fun and most excellent app. It’s EXACTLY what I hoped to find. A small group of friends and I did a ‘mileage’ challenge last year someone found online. The upside was since we were in it together it made a HUGE difference in everyone’s commitment to get more fit. Downsides: It was pricey for everyone and fairly clunky to even log miles…but the worst was since it was based on miles-only it really left out some friends who wanted to participate and were working out religiously in cardio or yoga classes but not getting mileage. The super simple design was vital to get everyone in our group to download and learn a new thing. But it’s so fast and easy we did it. But the flexibility of your app is the best feature! We set up our January challenge to be based on workout minutes instead of miles. That is really allowing ALL fitness levels to participate and feel good about their progress—as we have everyone from serious distance runners to those with physical disabilities in our dozen or so participants. At first I was bummed that it didn’t offer an option to connect our Fitbits and Strava etc. But as we all started using the option of posting a photo from the workout — that has become its own joy to see out of state friends on their yoga mats or a pic from their run. We love that and it’s bringing us closer as friends and helping grow fitness routines. THANK YOU!!! Boring auto posting from our watches etc would feel so impersonal now! I would happily pay for this app in the future even without additional features being added. **Sure hope you offer an option where I could pay one fee for my group of X people (12ish would be my wish) so that it would be free to those I invite.** It would have been MUCH harder to get everyone on if they had to pay individually even if the price were low. Just a mental hurdle for some of the less techy among us or those on the fence about joining in or in a hard $ spot. Thank you again. It is growing our fitness and friendships. THAT is value!! Ps I could see you adapting this format to other groups of friends/family who want to commit to a practice of some kind — from makers who want to dedicate more minutes to their craft and share pics of the process…to a group of book lovers who want to read a certain number of books and want to post and say a little about the book they just finished. Keep up the great work!!
