I like HMN but changing it to Hallmark+ doesn’t improve the product, at least not enough to justify the rate increase. Plus I just finished putting up with sucky Christmas in July. Hate that. $5 to 7.99 is more than a 60% increase. Free greeting cards is being offered. That’s not worth another $4 a month.
Constantly crashes
Every time I open the app, it shuts down. It will take about three times before I can use it.
Just downloaded
I just signed up to watch the hallmark mahogany movies but I can’t find them! Why is there not a tab to find the mahogany movies?! Frustrating!
Constantly buffering and blurry
I want to love this app so much as I love hallmark, but this app is terrible. I have no problem streaming from any other app (vudu, Netflix, Hulu, etc) but this app is constantly buffering and blurry. I have no internet issues and have a fast and strong connection but this app never seems to work well for more than 30 minutes if I’m lucky.
Great Content, Bad App
Let me start by saying, this isn't against the hallmark channel itself. Love the movies, and that's the reason i got this. Yet i find myself more frustrated than relaxed when using the app. I click the screen multiple times, nothing happens. I try to search something, nothing pops up for 30 seconds. I try to even move the timestamp at the bottom and it won't work. This app has a lot of issues and it's sad because... you have to pay for it. It should be free with this level of quality.
The worst
This might be the worst app I have. It never loads quickly, it freezes, I’m constantly rebooting it. It’s very very glitchy/total bummer
Poor App Experience
I see others have commented about being disappointed in the library available, however I have had extreme frustration with usability of the app. I subscribe to many other streaming services but this one seems to have an issue with fast forward/rewind. On the app you are unable to do either function quickly, the buttons are extremely small and hard to capture, and if you are successful in getting it you have to hit the rewind/fast forward button over and over to get to where you want. There is no option to restart a movie. If you watch a favorite movie I will find that at some point the system crashes and while it may still show up in the library I get an error message and it won’t let me cont8nue to watch. Also frustsrating that some TV series are listed under movies. The app automatically plays movies after you have watched one (which I love and is the only reason I have provided 2 stars) but I hate being surprised to find I’m actually thrown in the middle of a series. Not recommended to get this app for an elderly person.
Picture in Picture
Love this app and all of the content. So much easier to stream my favorite movies than busting out my DVDs, however I would love it if we could be able to watch said movies while doing other things. That’s my only downfall with the app. No picture-in-picture.
Closed captions way too small
Way too hard to read. Tried several different shows, all the, were in a tiny font. Fina;ly just canceled. Which is sad because I enjoyed the prgrams
Probably the worst streaming service I have
Unlike many of the bad reviews here, I’m not downgrading because of the content, although it’s not the best, it’s better than 2 stars. I enjoy the access to some of the older shows and the new ones eventually pop up, and usually not that long after they debut on the network. I’ve even watched a couple movies on HMN before they’re showing on the live channels. I have several streaming services and this is by far the most poorly designed and executed. I have a Roku TV, an Apple TV and also use the IOS app. All of them are terrible, although the IOS app and Apple TV app are slightly better than the Roku app. They take forever to load. They freeze up and either restart themselves automatically or, in the case of the Apple TV app, I have to offload it and reload it, usually involving a new login. At least I can use my iPad or iPhone to do the logging in. They often don’t sync well across the platforms, so if I start a movie on AppleTV then go to the Roku TV in another room, it won’t necessarily be at the right place. Wouldn’t be so bad if the FF and REW functions worked well but I can spend a lot of time trying to get to where I left off. The user interfaces on all apps are abysmal; the Apple TV app feeds the wrong episode to Up Next and I have to go to the show and find the right episode, even when bingeing and watching one after the other. The list of things that don’t work is much longer, but these are the most obvious. I can’t believe these products have been released for use; they’re not even good enough for Beta testing!
