"Thanks to this useful app, drawing realistic hands can become a whole lot easier" - ImagineFX

"Pencillers, inkers, and colorists should all give this a look!" - Tony Moore, co-creator of The Walking Dead

If you're an artist and ever wanted just quick and easy drawing reference for hands, heads, or even feet (IAP) without having to awkwardly pose your limbs in front of a mirror, this app is for you!

HANDY is an artist's reference tool, consisting of several rotatable 3D limbs with a variety of poses useful for drawing. You can also customize and edit your own poses for hands, feet, and skulls.

Fully adjustable 3-point lighting means you can get easy lighting reference when using any of the 10+ included 3D head busts. Handy if you’re painting and need to know what shadows the head casts from a certain angle!

Also available is the Animal Skulls pack. With over 10 different animal species, it's great for anatomical reference or creature design inspiration.
[Foot rigs and Animal Skull pack require additional purchase]

NEW in Handy v5: Edit the materials of models! Selectively turn off their textures, adjust their specularity, or tint them a certain color.

Perfect for comic book artists, painters, or just casual sketchers!

Pretty sweet

booker I don't even no her on

Hard to beat a app like this. I don’t even need to know 3D, it lets me focus on drawing

Simply the best art tool, period.

This has dramatically improved my hand drawing! The nice thing too is it even improves my hand drawing when I'm not using it! They recently added a head in this version, but its functionality is quite limited. I realize it's an addon, but it would be nice to have a more capable head, as well as a female one, but for the moment this is an excellent product, that I would recommend to any one without hesitation! They have since added a female head! This is the best!!

Awesome!

Very awesome program. While it doesn’t have a lot of models I really love using this to get quick references for hands and faces. Haven’t encountered any glitches or unpleasant surprises. It turned out to be exactly what I expected it to be + it came with a few animal skulls too that I find very handy to use

Things to improve on

Add hairstyles as an extension. Have interval rotation. The interval would be like 10 deg 20 deg etc. this allows more precision when trying to make reference cheat sheets of heads at various angles even when it’s tilted. That way artists can make reference sheets for themselves easily to build muscle memory. Or have option to save multiple angle views at once rather than making so many manually. This would be a huge game changer. Seeing all the angles of my subject head at a quick glance on one sheet amazing for anyone.

Easy to use, my favourite pose reference app

Mich review on

I've used other posable anatomy apps before, even some paid, and I use handy over those ones because I find it so much easier to use. The key is that Handy uses sliders to make adjustments, and there's separate sliders for each individual kind of movement. The other app I bought, relies on using your finger or pencil to move it around in 3d space but it's so hard to isolate a bend or a rotation; I never know what I'm doing and the model just clips into itself. I quit using that one out of frustration except when I need a full figure. If the makers of handy made an app for posable full body that's as easy to use as this, I'll definite get it. I love the feature to save scenes.

Wonderful Guide!

It’s super hard to find references for each and every pose you might imagine, but this app is a wonderful guide to learning and practicing anatomy. I definitely recommend it!!

EDIT: (next day) The update dropped and lots features added: thank you! Please continue adding models; young, old, Asian, Nesian, autochthonous—all of ‘em! The app functions as advertised and very “handy”. However, I’d like to see more ethnicities in the models. Currently there’s only Caucasian models. Willing to pay for it too. Though I doubt it’ll happen because I don’t think this app is being actively developed anymore. Too bad.
