Hazard Perception Test (HPT) Australia lets you practice for the HPT in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, and South Australia.

DETAILS

The app provides access to all available videos produced by Australian Transport Departments that are used in the official Hazard Perception Tests in each state.

You will be able to simulate the real HPT by going through the test without receiving feedback until the end. These tests are based on your location as the number of questions changes depending on the state in which you live (NSW, VIC, WA, QLD, & SA).

You also have access to take tests based on question topic or review individual questions. In this section of the app you will receive feedback after completing each question and can even review suggested answers so you know how to improve for your real HPT.

I used this hazard perception test app to prepare, and it was incredibly helpful in passing my test. The app features 43 random questions, and many of them are almost identical to those on the actual test. The scenarios are well-designed and mirror real-life driving situations closely. However, it's important to remember that during the actual test, they might expect you to stop earlier than you would in the practice scenarios. Overall, this app was an excellent tool for preparation!

I passed my NSW test 😆 

However, there is one overtaking bicycle question that is not in the test - don’t tap the screen. 
Given the two practice questions in the official HPT test, they want you to tap earlier in hazard recognition. 
This is a very good app. Easy to understand feedback. I got none of those 3D questions but very blurred real videos

Most of the questions in the HPT are exactly the same as the practice ones in this app. The feedback is useful as well so you get a feel for what they’re looking for in the actual test. However, there were some unseen questions so you can’t fully rely on this app although it does get you in the right mindset and worked out for me at least.

Passed my first time (WA)! Beware though the videos are not the same than in the actual test, really if you look up videos for the WA test there are none. But this app really helps in understanding what is a hazard and how and when to react to them as it explains every scenario very well. When you really understand the theory, then reacting in any situation becomes a lot easier. Good luck!

I suggest that if youre taking your HPT, to use this app to review or practice the answering the questions. There are 40+ possible questions and only 15 random ones wil pop up on the actual test. So best to familiarise yourself of the possible questions and know the when to react or not react. Most situations are common sense but some may be tricky due to the quality of video, and on the actual test it could so be blurry too. If it's blurry, or if you missed the answer, this app would have an explanation for the right answer and that makes it easier for you to remember what to look for during the actual test.
