## Headspace Care (Ginger) Description
Ginger is now Headspace Care
Headspace Care offers confidential mental health support with live, text-based coaching, video-based therapy and psychiatry, and a library of skill-building resources — all from the privacy of your smartphone.

Our coaching model 
Coaches provide support through real-time, text-based conversations in the app, so you can easily and privately chat with a coach anytime, anywhere. Coaches are available 24/7 for immediate in-the-moment care and via regularly scheduled sessions. We know texting isn’t easy for everyone, which is why we also offer a speech-to-text option. Coaches also help you get the right level of care and can connect you to a Headspace Care therapist or psychiatrist if you need extra support.

About our mental health coaches 
Headspace Care coaches are trained professionals with an advanced degree and/or coaching certification. Headspace Care coaches have at least two years of professional work experience and undergo an additional 100+ hours of specialized training every year. Coaches are full-time employees of Headspace Care, and yes — they’re real people. 

Therapy and psychiatry
When more support is needed, video-based sessions with a licensed therapist and/or psychiatrist are available, with evening and weekend hours. If you feel therapy and psychiatry may be helpful, please reach out to a coach.

Guided resources
Our in-app library of skill-building resources includes activities, podcasts, videos, articles, and more. New recommendations are suggested based on your needs and can help you with a range of topics, such as anxiety, stress, relationships, and career challenges.

Headspace Care is available in English, Spanish, and French. Note that services offered may vary by language and region.

Confidential and secure
Conversations between you and your care team are confidential. Headspace Care is HIPAA and EU GDPR compliant and HITRUST CSF certified.

What does it cost?
Select employers and organizations offer Headspace Care, including unlimited mental health coaching, at no cost to their employees, members, and their dependents. Depending on your employer or organization’s plan, you may have a limited number of therapy and psychiatry sessions covered, after which you would be responsible for the cost of the session not covered by your insurance. Depending on your health plan, the cost for accessing coaching, therapy and psychiatry services through Headspace Care may vary depending on your specific benefit plan. Please contact your benefits administrator for more information.

Get started
If you have access through your employer, download the app and tap “My Organization,” and follow the steps. If you have access through your health plan, you may have received an email from Headspace Care with a unique code. Simply download the app, tap “Enter an Access Code,” then enter the code from the Headspace Care email and follow the steps.

They were useless. Just summarized what I said and asked me what my goals might be.  If I knew I won’t need help.  She also responded very slowly although gave generic answers.

If it’s free then it might make sense to use. Therapy is not affordable for most and insurance only covers 3 months of texting at once per week for 30 minutes. And it is “coaching” not therapy. People need real help out here and they’re only providing band-aids in essence when people need surgery.

I got a bill for over 1k after a year of services and was not billed in real time. So of course I was shocked. They said that billing did not get to it until now. When I paid and asked for receipts they never responded. This is the most predatory company I have encountered. Do not use!

### **--- "Incorrect charges and unhelpful customer service"
I’m frustrated with this app for wrongly charging me a no show/late cancellation fee of $125. Customer service is slow to respond and often give unhelpful canned responses. The text coach system misleads you into thinking you can contact your coach at any time but you only get a 30 min text chat that half the time is used to write or wait for a response. The responses are similar to what an AI chat bot would give you. The video chat with a counselor is only 45 mins and the counselor I got was ok but not worth me continuing to use the app hence the two stars instead of one.

This company is charging me $125 for rescheduling an appointment due to the fact that I woke up with a migraine so bad I couldn’t function that day. Then they charged me an additional $125 for my therapist cancelling on me! Not me cancelling on them! Not me missing my appointment! For them cancelling on me! It’s now next to impossible to even find a phone number to call someone about this (how convenient for you..) so now I’m waiting for any email responses to resolve this problem! This is absolutely ridiculous!! And the fact that your trying to charge me $250 for rescheduling an appointment and then getting cancelled on is beyond disgusting!! You should be ashamed of yourself and I warn anyone to not use your services for mental health! They will only cause you more problems!! Unless you have money to waste, DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!!!

At first I liked this app because the articles were very small, so I could read them quickly while waiting in line, etc. 

I am disappointed with it now, though. There doesn't seem to be updates to the content, and a lot of it is dated--referring to working from home during the pandemic. 

The coaches are fine, but they frequently leave the company. I think you could probably get an equivalent experience using AI.

I had unsuccessful therapy session that made me feel worse 5 days after downloading the app, and spent weeks trying to cancel without success. I had to reach out 3 different ways to get the account cancelled and was still charged $50 plus insurance payments for an app I repeatedly tried to cancel right away.

The app is great when it works, but it sporadically won’t let me login and gets stuck in a loop of verifying and saying I already have an account. Also sporadically won’t let you schedule appointments and instead brings up a support screen to which there is no response. Can tell the dev team for what should be a great app is either underfunded or uninterested
