Not very good for the English speaker
I've had this app for a long time but not found it to be particularly useful. Today - this is what prompted me to write the review - of four words looked up on English, only two had the senses I needed. So /Desert/ has the verbal senses but not the nominal sense (מדבר, at least in Biblical Hebrew) that is probably the one usually searched for. Similarly, /House/ gives the verbal sense, but again not the noun (בית in Biblical Hebrew). I'm sure these senses are there, but the developers need to make sure that all senses of words (particularly these really common ones) are linked to each entry. (Annoyed by the chat ads too, but I can't begrudge the developers their income.)
Hebrew voice playback would be good
An ok app for learning new Hebrew words but I have two problems 1) what's the point of having voice recordings of the English word? English is my first language and the app is for English speakers in assuming. 2) why no voice recording of the Hebrew word?? That'd be a great help with memorising and pronunciation. Am considering deleting the app as it's a bit pointless if you want to learn actual hebrew to speak.
Hebrew Dictionary
Excellent APP the dictionary is very useful and the Random Word section is really good also.
Very good
Two-way, reasonably comprehensive dictionary, with vowels. Main weakness is that when there are multiple translations for words it doesn't elaborate on context or definition. And there is no nuance at all. Also doesn't give you gender of words. But otherwise extremely useful for filling in missing vocab.
Vowels.....
The earlier versions had vowels. All gone now, so it's not so useful for beginner or intermediate level students. On the plus side, it appears to be a more comprehensive dictionary.
