Terrible
Absolutely terrible. Was much easier when I could order Heinens through Instacart.
Had a hold on my account for the order but then an employee contacted me telling me my card was declining when there was plenty of money in that account. This is after they told me my delivery would be delayed due to their system messing up.
The employee was very kind and helpful but this app and system is trash. I am home sick and my daughter is also sick and this was a huge inconvenience.
Great Grocer, Great App
I love shopping Heinen’s on their mobile app. Products are easy to find and service is top tier. Highly recommend!
Underperforming
Compared to other grocers, this app isn’t great. At minimum, it should have the option to add your Heinen’s card to Apple Wallet or at least show your Heinen’s bar code in the app.

I don’t want to order online. I just want to shop in the store. This app is probably good for those who grocery shop online but for the rest of us there’s no function to this app.
Instead of picking one of the two useless options I deleted the app.
3rd party delivery service
Customers should know that Heinens uses a 3rd party delivery business to deliver and thus are unable to refund any delivery fee/tip in the event, as in my case, your order is never delivered. So I’m out ~25 bucks. Never again.
Great experience!
I have loved using this new feature from Heinen’s. They continue to raise the bar! I was able to order everything I usually would, including deli and meat counter items. There were a few items that were sold out, but the shopper contacted me immediately via message to ask me if I’d like to make substitutions. I wasn’t available to respond, so she went ahead with the order without those items, which I think is the best choice in those situations. The manager brought the order to my car (for pick up option) just outside Heinen’s in cooler packs to keep everything fresh, cold and/or frozen, and everyone (as is customary with Heinen’s staff) was incredibly friendly. As a transplant to Cleveland, I have quickly become Heinen’s loyal. They have outstanding products and services, and this new app and service feature, once again, places them ahead of the pack.
Off to a bad start
This is a big downgrade from Instacart. The app is difficult to use because it is so cluttered with ads. I don’t get notices that my order has been delivered.
Bring Instacart back!
Poorly designed app. Horrendous impersonal shoppers with no option to find similar items if your item is out of stock. If it doesn’t change quick, I will stick with Instacart at other grocery stores
Poor service with new app and no Instacarr
I never once had a problem with Heinens and Instacart. But first time I use this app, I have a messed up order. Heinens was out of two items and I did not get a call or a text to replace them. So now I am missing ingredients for what I was going to make. I called customer service and she said there was nothing they could do. Guess I can go to the cheaper Big Bird if I am going to get poor service.
My experience with ordering on the app
I love shopping at Heinens through Instacart. It was awesome. I was very skeptical to use the app because of the reviews and have to pay a 9.95 per delivery which is much more expensive than Instacart. I have a friend who does deliveries. She texted me to say that she got my Heinens order. I wanted to make sure that she got the full tip. She did get the full tip plus whatever other fees she gets for getting that order, so it is really nice that you know the tip does go to the driver, not the Heinen’s employee. I did have a few issues with the items that I did receive. I reported the issues and I got a refunded immediately. I am not happy about the $9.95 delivery fee for each order but I do love Heinens and I’m glad that the actual driver who picks up the order does get that tip.
3/23: I’m updating my review for this app I actually called Heinens, customer service. She explained to me the reason why Heinen stopped using Instacart. Instacart kept raising fees for businesses who use Instacart. The Heinens representative that I did speak with, explained to me that the $9.95 delivery free as well as the tip will go to the driver who actually picks up the order at Heinen’s in brings it to your door.
