Helium Tabs

helium gets another fail for this product. you’d think they’d at least maintain this app with their big treasure chest of money

App no longer loads

App stopped working after updating to iOS 16. Was slow and sluggish before that.

The app is fairly worthless. There are no settings to speak of. Features described in the helium tabs document Sheehan’s instructions are non existent. Someone please update this app. And make it useful.

Which is fine, and this review is more a warning to potential future downloaders to save them the time, space, and data on their phone and the half an hour going down the rabbit hole of the helium website / Dev documentation to realize you can use plenty of trackers with Helium, but none of them are helium tabs, and cannot be used with the helium tabs app. I have learned, as far as I can gather, that they were once available directly from Helium, but they no longer are, and it is speculated they never will be again. Whether or not they will be available in the future; this app is 100% useless without Helium tabs. Unless you purchase one second hand, or already have them, then this app is not for you, and the link to the store that it directs you to “if you don’t already have one” is simply a link to their store which does Not have any tabs in it (see above). So again, I have no knowledge of the rest of the app, and I trust it may work very well, but as far as the pages I was able to access and the info on the page that I was sent to from the store button (or, more accurately, the lack of updates pertaining to the lack of tabs) - I wasn’t super impressed.

I live in a city with pretty widespread helium coverage. This app frequently doesn’t update the location of things, there’s no good way to see a history or map of the past, you can’t force a device to update more frequently, you can’t really tell if it is trying to update and can’t or whether it is sleeping etc. Keep going! We’re the earliest of early adopters though, so error on the side of giving us too much power.

The app is simplistic but works well if you currently live in range of a Helium hotspot. Very cool tech that provides long-distance tracking.

Best tracker app I’ve ever used. Super clean, right on the details and feels super snappy. Works flawlessly and I can finally track my things on the helium network!!
