Speak naturally. Hermes listens, translates, and speaks back in the other person's language — all on-device, with no cloud, no subscription, and no internet required.

REAL-TIME TWO-WAY TRANSLATION
Hand your phone to someone who speaks a different language, or connect wirelessly with a nearby device. Hermes handles the translation in both directions simultaneously.

COMPLETELY PRIVATE
All speech recognition and translation happens on your iPhone using Apple's built-in frameworks. Nothing leaves your device. No account needed.

PEER-TO-PEER CONVERSATIONS
Connect directly with another iOS device over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Two people, two languages, one seamless conversation — no server in the middle.

12 LANGUAGES SUPPORTED
English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Russian, and Hindi.

THREE CONVERSATION MODES
• Peer-to-Peer: Two devices, each person hears translation in their own language
• Local Bidirectional: One device, pass it back and forth
• Local Translator: Use it solo to translate what you hear

I found this translator searching for a truly free option. It’s very simple to use and it can translate a conversation while 2 people are speaking in different languages. I’m using it in Japan as an English speaking American that speaks zero Japanese and it has been very helpful and easier than Google Translate.
