This app is great but I would truly appreciate it if I could change in between my target languages. Especially if I’m paying for this app. I should have the choice. My target language is French but stuck in Korean. I am going to be learning French next semester and I wanna give this app a chance. Like I said, especially if I’m paying for this app I should have the choice to change in between.

Literally was using this for about five minutes I picked Korean by the way, the phrase that it gave me first I already know, so I pronounced it perfectly, but it kept telling me that I got it wrong… Then he gave me another phrase which I pronounced perfectly, and it kept telling me that I was saying the wrong word. Smh

I saw there was a khmer option and wanted to try it. Im taking khmer classes 1v1 online and figured this app would be good practice. NOPE. The words are totally wrong. It sounded like it was speaking SIM rather than a legit language? And when i put that it was wrong it would just repeat over and over… is this just teaching people a made up language and making money off it?

I have given this app a 1 star rating because it constantly is having bugs. I can hear people then all of a sudden I cannot. I like using the app because I’ve been using it for awhile but lately it’s been terrible to use. Please fix your issues.

Amazingly good app for language exchange. Excellent functionality, features and sound quality.

Actually, Hilokal is my favorite app out of the many I have tried for REAL learning and not only “social talking”. 

There are real lessons, the kind you will not find many of on the other apps. 

There are many useful features which may take a little time to learn how to use, but it is worth it.

I have been using this app for a while today bew update came out and as the app suggested me to update i did but after that the app would kick me out by itself like it won’t let me in this app at all... this is really disappointing. I’ve been using this app on and off for months now and I’ve had almost no bad experiences with any of the people except for today. I was talking to two great people and then another person comes in calling us stupid Americans and literally just yelling about how they hate Americans. As soon as they left a Korean person came in yelling “black American black American” and then left. How am I supposed to report them while in the call I they leave so quickly???? How am I supposed to give proof???? The worst part is after the call you can see the table history and after I reported one account I tried to report another but the table history was gone. (Not that reporting it would do a nothing anyways) but I wasn’t able to even block the two people who thought discrimination was funny. The app was doing so well until I saw how they handle those type of people and now I’m pretty frustrated with hilokal smh. Do better.

If you’re Black or gay or both. Prepare to be harassed  by dozens of Middle eastern men who beg you for nudes and call you every single slur on the voice chat if you don’t comply! Don’t bother reporting it, they don’t moderate the voice tables so you’ll be left in the audience while some guy in Algeria berates you for either your race or sexuality before hoping in yet another unmoderated DM to berate you some more.
