HOW WE GET YOU OFF HINGE
When it comes to online dating, people are so busy matching that they’re not actually connecting, in person, where it counts. Hinge is on a mission to change that. So we built an app that’s designed to be deleted. Here’s how:

* We quickly learn your type. You’ll only be introduced to the best people for you.

* We give you a sense of someone’s personality. You’ll get to know potential dates through their unique answers to prompts, as well as information like religion, height, politics, dating intentions, relationship type, and much more.

* We make it easy to start a conversation. Every match begins by someone liking or commenting on a specific part of your profile.

* We want you to feel confident about meeting people in person. Selfie Verification makes it easier for daters on Hinge to ensure that they are who they say they are.

* We ask how your dates are going. After exchanging phone numbers with a Match, we’ll follow up to hear how your date went so we can make better recommendations in the future.

Hinge bans users for no reason, even if you follow all the rules. There’s no clear explanation or proper appeal process, making it a frustrating experience. Don’t waste your time on an app that can randomly remove your account without warning. Look elsewhere for dating apps that respect their users.

While Hinge presents often more intentional dates which is nice it lingers behind all others on validation and authentication of users. This creates a nonstop influx of fake users with redundantly predictable profiles. Either it’s an inside job at Hinge seeding fake profiles or  there is no intention do visual and ID card verifications like competitors.

Several people including myself got banned after buying a subscription. They give no reason to banning you and you don’t ever get to speak to a human to get an explanation. I once highly regarded the app, but it has the worst customer service I e ever seen.

I am a male and set my settings to look for FEMALES only. In my feed I was getting shown MALES who were pretending to be females. I reported them because they are NOT females. ### **--- "Hinge is Not Effective & Favours Certain Users"
I love certain features of Hinge such as roses and the swiping mechanics, but there a multiple reasons why Hinge hasn’t been effective for me: 

1 No Consideration for Border Cities

I live in a city that borders another country and majority of the people I get shown are from the other country and not the country I live in. There is no feature that allows me to filter out people from a different country, so I’m stuck passing on half of the people I’m shown because I don’t want to cross the border to go on a date. Seems unfair to me….

2 Long Time Hinge User = Less Likes

When I first joined Hinge I got a plentiful amount of likes. As a long time Hinge user now, I get hardly any likes. Not sure if Hinge shrugs off long term accounts because the app thinks that they’re not taking it seriously or if there’s another reason, but it makes it twice as difficult to find a match. 

3 Expensive Paid Subscriptions (Hinge+ & HingeX)

Obviously Hinge will favour users who subscribe to Hinge+ or HingeX and that’s totally fair. However, the prices of these subscriptions has become outrageous! How does Hinge expect anyone to find a quality match if they can’t afford to pay for the features that allow it? It’s not even worth it to have an app that doesn’t work unless you pay an outrageous amount of money. 

4 Boosts Not Effective 

I bought a boost which is supposed to allow me to be seen by 11x the amount of people. Within the hour I had my boost, I only got five likes? I don’t totally understand how that’s 11x the normal amount, but I definitely should have got shown to way more people and got way more likes then that for the price I paid. 

Above are only a few of my surface thoughts about Hinge as there are many more that factor into my two star rating.

My account has been deleted without any explanation or clarification on what terms were violated. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. Users deserve clear communication, especially when their accounts are being removed. Extremely frustrating experience—I cannot recommend this app.

I have been in this app for 10 months now checking it almost daily. Its definitely a rigged system that wants you to be on it for a long time so you feel hopeless enough to buy a premium subscription. It wants you to feel lonely. Im convinced it hides your likes or new likes sent, replace the old ones still pending. I really feel scammed by this apps design.
