Les ordinateurs grand public HP équipés de la fonctionnalité HP Sure Admin peuvent gérer l’accès au microprogramme, à l’aide d'une sécurité basée sur une paire de clés publique/privée. Cette fonctionnalité permet de renforcer la sécurité par rapport à une solution conventionnelle basée sur des mots de passe. Bien que cette fonctionnalité soit transparente lorsqu'un administrateur gère un microprogramme à distance, il existe des cas où le personnel informatique local (ou les utilisateurs) doit authentifier son identité au microprogramme (par ex. pour accéder à la configuration BIO F10 Setup). Dans ces cas spécifiques, le microprogramme affiche un code QR, que le personnel informatique local peut numériser avec l'application mobile HP Sure Admin, afin de générer un code PIN unique qu'il peut saisir dans le microprogramme pour authentifier l’utilisateur.
