I am using HRV4TRAINING during base and buildphases which has been working fine. This App however does not seem to get my HR correctly. 33-35 seems rather on the extreme low end. Resting HR is normally somewhere in the 50s.
I’ve really benefitted from regular RF breathing and biofeedback using this app. It’s really helped me manage stress much more effectively. I do wish there were a more robust set of external accessories. I often want to practice hands free, so I don’t need to be holding my phone to use the app, and I’m not aware of an external device that both measures your HRV and gives a vibration and quiet sound indicating the breathing intervals.
Love this app and what it does but data only syncs and saves for me about half the time. Possibly it’s just a hazard of rural internet but disappointing nonetheless
I doubted their claim of HRV and HR accuracy. I have a Polar h10 and I compared measurements and to my surprise HRV4BIOFEEDBACK optical sensor accuracy was the same as Polar! Very impressive. I like how you get the scores and can see the effects on mood and whatnot. Helpful to see trends over time. Major criticism is that the breathing visual is hard to see. They need to do something with more contrast. Only rated 4 stars because there is so much more they could do with the biofeedback exercise rather than just breathing. Guided meditation, sound, etc.
Maybe HRV4BioFeedback is not working with iOs 16.3? Camera flash turns on, stays on, and no measurements take place at all, screens lock up.
I bought my iPhone SE just to use these apps, and they do not disappoint. Major boost to daily insight into your health, with a reliable way to induce parasympathetic nervous system response and relax into being a healthier person.
I’ve found this tool incredible helpful for dealing with stress and fatigue. My only improvement would be a more subtle way to notify the peak and trough of the breathing cycle.
I’ve used HRV4TRAINING for over a year.Recently, I listened to Marco‘s interview with Dr. Khazan, and decided to try out biofeedback. The app pairs well with Dr. Khazan’s book, and I’ve maintained a breathwork practice via the app for a a few weeks. It took me a few weeks to realize the “Power” graph represented my breathing rate. Consider adding an additional label for the layperson such as myself. I wonder if research shows that the optimal resonant frequency changes after some training, and if so, then the app could suggest retesting for your ideal frequency every two weeks or so. I don’t own an Apple Watch, but have friends that do, and I’d like to recommend the app to them. You mention the watch doesn’t deliver live data, but is live data required? If the watch can store up to 20 minutes of HRV data, then send it to the phone for the app to process, doesn’t that work just as well? Even to find your resonant frequency, the app can change the visual breathing pattern, and match time stamps to sync up the frequencies to HRV. Lastly, is it possible to allow the app to operate in the background? I’m using a consumer EEG with an associated iOS meditation app, and would be very curious to record my breathwork while simultaneously recording my brain waves. Great work, sir. Cheers.
I’ve found this app to be incredibly valuable for measuring and managing my life stress.
