HughesDrive has been created to help offer more affordable options to young drivers in Northern Ireland and depending on your driving style you can earn weekly treats! HughesDrive is a telematics App that monitors your driving. It records metrics such as how often you drive, how far you go, your acceleration, braking, and swerving. It uses this information to calculate a personalised driving score, which you can view on your secure in-App dashboard. Please download the App for free after purchasing a HughesDrive Telematics Policy. If your car doesn’t have Bluetooth, simply request a Beacon in the App and it will be sent to you in the post. If you have a green driving score over a consecutive seven-day period from Monday midday, you will be eligible for a treat! Every Monday at midday an eGift will be available in the HughesDrive App. Next steps: To complete the on-boarding process please complete the following steps. 1. Download and install the HughesDrive App 2. Once the App has been successfully installed, please login using your email address you provided to us when activating the policy and the password that has been emailed to you. You will be prompted to amend your password on initial login. 3. Provide photographs of the insured vehicle as instructed by the HughesDrive App. 4. Provide photographs of your photo card driving licence and paper counterpart as instructed by the HughesDrive App. 5. Complete pairing of your HughesDrive App to the insured vehicle via Bluetooth. Follow the insured vehicles Bluetooth instructions. 6. Ensure the location services are enabled on your Smartphone. Totally inaccurate app, have provided evidence disproving their claims. Replacement worked for a few weeks, then started randomly giving minus scores for journeys despite the exact same driving technique Next it randomly stopped recording journeys. Next replacement beacon has worked for a few weeks but now recorded an excess speed event incorrectly so Hughes are threatening to cancel the entire policy. Terrible customer service and this app is downright useless. I have been told on 3 occasions that I have broken the speed limit while moving my car from my driveway to a parking space across the street. I have received -10 points for smoothness when driving perfectly reasonably. Don’t get me started on the usage function. I repeatedly lose points for driving more than 3 times a day. They have threatened my policy on multiple occasions all due the fault of this abhorrent app. Do not buy with Hughes. Go elsewhere. The app has also not been saving my journeys week by week anymore, November was the last week saved and it is now February. I think you do need a little patience with the app but the customer services are very helpful and they appreciate it if you contact them about the issue as soon as it arises. You are supposed to keep location services on at all times but i’ve had to turn mine off because it would record when i’m not in the car driving - when the phone is in my pocket, when i’m in other people’s cars and even on the TRAIN!! Resulting in me getting minus points for speed and usage, when i’m not even driving. So it has brought my score down and out of the green. It is true that often it records the journey halfway through. They really need to sort these aspects out because frankly it is unfair! The app isn’t as bad as i thought it would be but you definitely do have to be careful and not keep location services on all of the time because of it’s inaccurate tracking, so i guess if you can’t be bothered with having to open the app every time you get in and out of the car and not just be able to set off then it’s not for you, it definitely does require patience... -- nirelandgal, 2020-08-10 ### *---- "Useless" App is absolutely useless, doesn’t track half of the journeys I take and also never properly connects to the Bluetooth no matter if it’s the Bluetooth in the car or the Hughes Bluetooth beacon I was sent. Results in bad scores for the week and my insurance being questioned.
