Hushmail FAQ
Is Hushmail free?
Yes, Hushmail is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Hushmail legit?
⚠️ The Hushmail app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
I have been using the service for 4 years there is finally a redesign due (2020) I’m using the beta on my desktop. The app is secure and searches emails well but no massive difference to Gmail other than payment but you can send a total of 50mb (20mb max) as attachments which is handy but if you are sending pdfs. Face ID (iPhone X 2020) is temperamental if you turn it off you have to delete and re-download the app again as it will not give you the option working the app to turn it back on. Can’t say I’m seeing a massive being it for my money, i emailed technical before to report a bug and thy replied about 2 months after.
2021 and still buggy on IPhone for a service I’m paying for I would have expected these continuing problems to go away, also I’m fed up of reporting them technical, won’t be continuing my service think I’ll go back to gmail
Basic but I love it
Primarily for the endless disposable emails so I can see who is selling my details then delete it goes
Slow, glitchy, limited functionality
The app is very slow to fetch new mail, send mail, open items. This might be because of the extra processing required for the security and privacy, but it doesn’t make for a good user experience.
Many glitches; it often simply refuses to send items, the notification badge gets stuck on phantom unread mail, crashes more than occasionally. Emails often aren’t rendered properly making them unreadable.
Functionality is very limited - no way to create new folders, manage aliases, manage lists.
Security and privacy are key selling points for Hushmail, and have evidently been prioritised over functionality and experience in the app - which is a trade-off that most people won’t be willing to accept.
Latest version crashing on iphone 7
Was working fine but latest update is crashing on log in. It can't handle passwords greater than 22 characters.
Update 29 Jan17: this bug is now fixed, rating updated from 1 to 4 stars.
Good but needs improvement
I have been using this up and it is very good in areas where the internet band is very low when traveling.
The only issue I suggest that Hushmail address is that it won't turn to landscape in IPADs. I use several accounts in the app, which is a great improvement, however, when you forget the mater password, there is no way to reset it.
The only solution I had was to delete the app and try to download it. That was not a good choice because my internet was not able to cope with downloads at the time.
Otherwise good app.
Thanks
Terrible
Really bad.. would not recommend, everything is just a paywall trying to get money from you.
Too glitchy
So many glitches and often will not load emails. Pointless to have an app for email if you can’t even open the emails. I have to delete and re-download the app several times a week to get it to download emails.
I beg you, please update the app
Notifications have now stopped working. For a professional service this app is embarrassing. Please, hire new devs to fix this app—it has been chronically bugged for several years now.
1 year later - great customer service yet ### app.
It’s sad. The company pricing went up and I gained more storage, yet I’m experiencing the same problems.
Star was added to the emails yet the app has no update and that was I’d guess 4-6 months ago??
I’ve also had send-receive issues and have considered Protonmail.
App won't accept Google login and password
If I use a Google login and password when accessing hushmail on the web, why will the app not accept those login credentials???
