Hey, I’ve been using your app on both my Mac and iPhone for the past year. I write everything in iA and I think the concept is brilliant. There are a few things I’d love for the app to improve at - iPhone (11) / MacBook Pro 2019, when I write a long document and reopen the app, I always have to start scrolling from the top to the bottom, it doesn’t happen automatically. The longer the document gets, the longer it takes to get to the actual writing - performance: it might be with the long documents I write, but the app and the actual writing seems to get slower in time. The performance issues are sometimes so bad that I have to open the iOS default notes and write my note there - syncing between devices - I’d love to not have to confirm every time I made a change of the docs at a different device. Can’t wait for more updates!
I love the app, have moved all my writing into it. Just one thing - it drains battery pretty fast. I use it on iPad pro with plenty of power, I dont get why a text editor takes so much power. Playing videos or photo editing takes less energy than aI writer. This is quite serious for me because I write off-grid to concentrate..
The app is awesome, but it needs to improve a search. Please add tags or categories. Thank you.
I'm a dedicated iA Writer user, particularly drawn to its excellent cross-platform support for the fountain template. This seamless experience has significantly improved my screenwriting workflow. To further enhance iA Writer's appeal to a wider audience, I believe an "index card view" would be a valuable addition. Imagine a visual representation of your project, where chapters, scenes, or even individual comedy bits are displayed as individual cards. This feature would offer several advantages: * Streamlined Reorganization: Easily rearrange chapters, scenes, or comedy bits with simple drag-and-drop actions. * Enhanced Creative Flow: Gain a new perspective on the overall structure and flow of your work. This intuitive approach would not only improve workflow efficiency for screenwriters and novelists but also significantly benefit comedians seeking to refine the order and pacing of their acts. I'm confident that an index card view would attract a wider audience to iA Writer, solidifying its position as a leading writing application for creatives across various disciplines. I hope iA Writer considers this suggestion as a potential avenue for further enhancing this already exceptional tool.
Since the most recent update I can’t get it iA Writer to read from or write to iCloud. It just continuously says “Updating.” I made sure all settings and permissions were set properly, restarted the app and my iPad, and removed and reinstalled the app. Still nothing. When I try to write and save a new file, I get an error message saying the file doesn’t exist. Oh, well.
Hands down the very best writing app, thank you so much!
I’ve been using this app for a few years, and I love everything about it - the app is clean and simple, and I love that it lets me work on markdown files directly. It’s so nice to see a team with such a great ethos. Please keep going as long as you can <3
This perfectly suited my needs as a touch friendly markdown editor. I was trying to fill my need of a notes app that supports markdown with detailed revision history. Seems simple enough but good luck finding it. But this paired with Working Copy, and Shortcuts Automation is a match made in heaven. The keyboard formatting shortcut customization is also very friendly. Every time I open the app, a shortcut triggers to pull from my remote git repo and every time I close the app it commits the modified files and pushes to the remote repo. Not to mention the standardization of using markdown and being able to add and access the files anywhere across any platform this the best solution for notes IMO.
This app has the best typing latency I’ve ever seen. I cannot think of another app that is as responsive to key presses on iPadOS. The moment I type a key it appears on the screen. Magical. In general it is beautifully designed and carefully considered. What could make it better? 1. Ability to rename a file just by clicking the title. It’s too many clicks to rename right now. 2. When I rename a file update the links from other files so the links are not broken. Obsidian has this and it’s a pretty crucial missing feature. 3. Ability to create text bundles. When I delete an image from my note I don’t want to have to clean up orphaned files. I wish the app would handle this for me while still using an open format like text bundle.
