◆ ABOUT THE TABLA & LEHRA ◆
The Tabla is a percussion instrument widely used in Indian Classical music both as a solo instrument and as an accompaniment to vocal or instrumental music. When played as a solo instrument, the tabla is accompanied (usually on the harmonium or sarangi) by a continuous cyclical musical phrase or riff called the "Lehra" or "Nagma" (ostinato in western music) that keeps track of the "aavartan" or rythmic cycle in the chosen "taal".

Purchased this as a part of the bundle after being impressed with iTabla. Big mistake. 

The quality of the instruments is just slightly above the quality of the old electronic nagma boxes. The lehera melodies used are jarring and limited in variety.

Save your money and purchase one of the many newer alternatives out there with real musicians playing live instruments and leheras that are actually pleasant to the ear.

This will be very useful for me--a raagini and naagma all in one in my pocket. I think the focus going forward should be on better instrument sound--and to add a real sarangi sound. This would actually make it useful for a tabla solo performance if there is no one available to give lehra. Would also be good to balance the tampura sound with the lehra sound. Another idea would be to add some instrumental gats so you can (sort of) simulate sangat (accompaniment) and play with that instead of a standard lehra.
