Hard to manage
Hello. I have just had to spend an hour working out why my app has not been working. It is not an easy process. There needs to be a helpline on phone to and a person on other end to guide seniors through the updates ect. This needs to happen and be a tech expert . Please set this up.
Thanks Tom. Ps my daughter has helped me.
Hopeless and clumsy
I want to use safari along with my other news articles on different tabs. This always directs me to the new app. I will uninstall it and if I can’t get the webpage up on safari I’ll cancel my subscription. Talk about not giving the customers what they want. You’re a news service not a software developer, you don’t need an app -there are plenty out there.
Good Newspaper to Wrap Hot Fish n Chips or Household Trash
Not happy with our Illawarra Mercury. Full of furniture and electrical product advertisements, letters to the editor are from the same contributors day after day expressing hate or political bias, Green ideology usually lacking scientific facts or the truth, news articles that are not newsworthy. I was very generous giving a one star rating.

Slow, clunky not as good as old app
The app is slow to load to look at whole paper.
If I leave it to look elsewhere and come back I get a blank screen until it re establishes itself.
Have a look at the Daily Telegraph app, much smoother and quicker.
New app has a downside
The new Illawarra Mercury app opens the newspaper as a double page spread in my device. This is unreadable on my device, as the print is too small. When I try to zoom in to increase the page size, I often find I’m directed to one particular story - when I want the whole page. After I am funnelled to one story, I cannot find my place back to the page I was on. All in all the new app is annoying ..
Poor performance and major inconvenience!
Reading stories through the app, no issue at all, it’s perfect!
But try to read a story posted on Facebook, nothing! It prompts me to subscribe (I already do), so I login only to be booted out back to Facebook and told I need a subscription again and am no longer able to open the story at all! Prior to this happening, it was just the annoying inconvenience of having to login everytime I wanted to read a story on Facebook, now I can’t even login. I don’t use the app to read the paper, I read the ones that peak my interest in my Facebook feed, if I can’t do that, there’s no need for me to pay for a subscription when I can get the same stories for free from ABC News Illawarra
