No sound
I cannot figure out why this app has no sound on my iPad. Should I be hearing instruction? It says it’s playing piano and regardless of what I do in the audio settings, I have no sound.

This is really an amazing app with great lessons and having the motivation to come back to it is easy with the reward system of unlocking brushes and trying to keep a streak going. Would be 5 stars but every time I try do something even remotely detailed the app lags and then eventually crashes. The piece eventually becomes one I don’t want to finish because it takes 3 minutes to open back up and then crashes 5 minutes later because it can’t process the drawing anymore.
Try to open and click to get started and it force closes the app
Seems great and I really want to sign up. However, I can no longer hear any audio out of this app. The developers are responsive and trying to find the cause of the issue. Before I encountered the audio bug, 8 found the app to be very good
Incredible interactive drawing lessons. There is nothing else like it. The soothing music options are the cherry on top. This app has progressed so far in the past year. You now have the option to turn off painting with finger ( no more palm marks) and the lag has been greatly improved. The developer is very responsive on Discord and will almost always respond immediately and is continually making improvements. The drawing interface is no Procreate, BUT more simplified at this point. It does help with learning the fundamentals. Although upgrades are being made there as well, like more brush options and hopefully more layers. Hint hint! If you have a suggestion, a question, experience a bug.. head to Discord. This app has been sort of a community effort and is getting better every day. I highly recommend… come join us!
This app is very fun and has potential BUT the actual drawing interface needs a lot of work. For one the undo button can lag for so long that if you hit the undo button 10 times to quickly erase some brush strokes you might have to wait a whole minute or two while it is stuck undoing before you can interact with the interface again. In general a lot of the features are glitchy, slow and get stuck/force you to stop while the app catches up. Another thing that would be nice is better palm detection. Lot of time if you lay your palm down on the tablet before the pencil tip it wont draw. As far as layers, maybe this is a feature you have to buy, but it would be nice to be able to add more layers, and move layers. A color history would also be nice. Theres a few other complaints i have but overall it is a fun app and i can see the purpose of keeping your tools a little more limited for learning purposes but theres certain basic features that are lacking and it is very laggy.
I love inkwell but that NEEDS more free stuff bro
I have never had a better teacher than this app has been for me. The lessons are amazing and for the first time I am having more confidence in my abilities! Easy to follow directions, awesome follow along lessons. They are short but provide so much in learning how to use the tools. His teaching skills is special. Thank you
Hi! It’s a very fun and relaxing drawing/social media app for artists. I love the concept and the community. It has a promising future, I believe, and it gets me inspired to draw. A couple things I like about it are that it offers user submitted photos that give you a different kind of inspiration than you would get on just google or pinterest images. They’re more authentic and personal a lot of the time. It also has a simple but effective digital art program inside the app itself that focuses on the basics of art without too many specialized tools. [edit: now there are also challenges, coloring pages, and unlockable extras, and the small team responsible are regularly improving and innovating it]. I like that you can stamp the canvas with a photo of your choice too, in case you decide to draw in your own art programs (or traditionally) and post that on inkwell. I have a couple simple ease of use suggestions: 1. Double tap apple pencil to swap between eraser and current brush. This is a standard shortcut for ipads and if it can be implemented, it would be great. 2. [edit: This suggestion has been implemented (finger rejection)! Thanks to the devs for all their constant work!] Turn off capacitive touch as tool. For those of us who only draw with the apple pencil, the finger/palm sometimes registers by accident and makes an unintended mark on the canvas since capacitive touch is also set as a tool. I would like to disable this. Maybe the finger touch could be customized to work another tool of choice like to pan the screen with one finger swipe. Or just a toggle to disable/enable finger touch registering for different artist preferences would be fine. I gave a 5 star regardless because I believe in the app and the team behind it and wanted to give a review in support.
Of all the learn to draw apps I've tried, this one is my favorite. Once I learned that you need to use Discord for support, I have no complaints. It is a fun, easy to use app. I feel I have learned a lot already, and I've only been using it for a couple weeks.
