I like that
Im so surprised that it’s free and very useful
Too much talking about nothing and not enough teaching. The words of each lesson are too easy and don’t match the much more difficult dialogue and quizzes. Too much emphasis on grammar jargon. This is not necessary. I speak perfect English and don’t know what half these grammar terms mean. It’s not necessary to learn a language. The human brain learns through examples.
If I knew it was a pay to use app I wouldn’t have downloaded it. Might as well find a different one…
I had a premium subscription to study Japanese with this app a few years ago and it was quite good. I decided to use it again and I am very frustrated by how buggy it is. It doesn’t load the lessons properly half the time. The content is good but it’s not accessible, which is very frustrating.
Sometimes will be stuck on loading screen for several minutes and will crash in the middle of audio lesson
App stopped working about a week ago. I’m paying for a premium subscription, but none of the content in the app loads. I can access lessons via the website, but the app itself does not work at all. Tried reinstalling, restarting, etc. Hoping there will be an update that addresses this. If not, I will be canceling my subscription.
There is too much English in the lesson videos and very little of the target language (Finnish). The app touts having having a "vast" library of learning materials, but there is actually very little on grammar, and what there is only scratches the surface of a given topic, such as verbs. Conclusion is that the app will not get one very far in learning Finnish. It might be better for other languages, but I can't say.
Nothing else happens. touch one button and it’s over
I believe immersive learning is the most effective way to learn any new language. The way this app has you listening to actual conversations right off the bat and builds upon previous learning with new is unmatched. When you’re in another country it’s difficult to keep up with the native speakers, but this app trains your ears to pick up the language as you learn. My kids and I use Duolingo as well because it keeps them engaged. However I prefer this method as an auditory learner. I have leaned more Italian in the past month than I ever have. Molto bene!
