## Insteon Director Description
Hello everyone!

If you are a user of the older Insteon for Hub app, are using a Hub 2 (2245-222), and haven’t yet tried this newer app version, here are some great enhancements to know about:
This app is an entirely new experience, redesigned to simplify how you manage your home. Bold tiles give you quick access to your devices and scenes. New one-touch actions make it easy to quickly control multiple devices in your home all from the same screen. And adding favorites is now as simple as tapping a single icon.

The app also brings new features to Insteon, including a Schedules view that makes it easier to see what’s happening in your home throughout the day. We’ve also added one of the most-requested features to schedules: sunrise and sunset offsets, so your scenes can occur up to 4 hours before or after the sun goes up or down in your local area.

We’ve added sensor check-in tracking so that if your sensor supports heartbeat broadcasts, we will let you know when it’s time to check the battery or other communication issues.
You’ll also find that everything in the app is faster. From logging in to navigating between screens, you can expect a faster, fluid experience. Statuses display quickly—no more waiting for each individual device to update. You’ll see the most significant improvements in creating and editing scenes. We’ve completely overhauled how we manage scene updates, in many cases bringing the experience down from minutes to seconds (depending on scene complexity).

Here are some high-level things you should know about the new mobile app before you dive in.

--Faster time from launch to device control - Depending on device you can be in less than 3 seconds from launch
--Faster scene creation - Depending on the complexity of the scene, up to 80% faster in some cases
--Easier scheduling – Schedule multiple devices for the same time without the need to create scenes

## Insteon Director Reviews in United States

### ***-- "Color theme is horrible"
The functionality and layout in the app is good, but this bright yellow is jarring and hard to look at. You should’ve left the old collar scheme or introduce an option to change it because this yellow is gross.
-- paulh891, 2025-08-28

### ***** "Background color"
I love all of the improvements and the system keeps getting better. I much prefer the blue panel color over the yellow. Maybe the developers can add a color chg option. Keep up the good work.
-- Mark-tampa, 2025-08-27

### *---- "Scammer alert"
I pay a lot of money to get smart home system then the company changes their software and they asked me to pay them monthly after I already paid
And now I can’t use non of my outlets
-- Ffggh567ghc, 2024-05-28

### ***** "App continues evolving in positive direction"
Big proponent of Insteon. Insteon Director is big improvement, especially aesthetically, over the Insteon for Hub app. Insteon very actively listens to its user-base and continues improving and refining feature-sets of the app, as well as their products and services. If it’s not to your liking today, be patient: don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. They’re listening and their continued updates and roadmap have proven such. From my vantage point, the future is “bright” for Insteon.
-- michaelrlawrence, 2024-02-24

### ***** "Ignore old reviews"
This app has been hugely improved during the past few months and is now fully functional and more user friendly. If you’re an Insteon user, this app is an absolute must-have.

The new owners of Insteon have resurrected a troubled company, have dedicated thousands of hours and untold $$ into what is now once again a #1 home automation product line and on-line service. My home is completely Insteon controlled, and this app manages it all.
-- JonsBlog, 2024-02-22

### ***** "Getting there!"
I was underwhelmed when I adopted this technology a couple of years ago on the recommendation of a couple of friends. I too was suffering from X10 withdrawal. I’m seeing a lot of progress from this new bunch. Their hardware appears to be bulletproof, unlike the aforementioned X10.
Keep it coming, Insteon. We need a pc/Mac version and interfaces with other technologies.
-- Engineer.PSR, 2024-02-21

### ***** "It just works!"
Insteon hardware and this software just work.
There is a bunch of other cheap stuff, and knockoffs that rely on WiFi, etc.
Insteon has a RELIABLE dual protocol that has much more besides just working, like mesh, repeaters, easy 3 way switches, grouping, scenes. The list goes on.
It’s an overlooked leader in home automation hardware and software that professional installers use besides DIY‘ers.
-- Cazman37, 2024-02-21

### ****- "Keeps getting better"
Director started out quite clunky compared to the original app, but it is consistently improving. It definitely starts faster than the original app ever did, but can still use some improvements to common workflows.

Insteon is open to user feedback and does prioritize new features based on that input.
-- terbos, 2024-02-21

### ***** "App is much better than the Average"
The rewritten Director is a terrific App. It’s easy to use and very solid. The low average score is the result of a lot of old reviews that were posted while the new App was being completely rewritten. If you use Insteon products, Insteon Director is a must.
-- ChasDaneri, 2024-02-13

### **--- "Unable to add by insteon ID"
Recent update has ruined option to add device by insteon ID. My second hub died recently and to migrate to a new one I need this option. Right now when you enter insteon ID and trying to click next button nothing happens. 10 years and still no iPad version. Design is not very useful. Now even chinese apps are better.
