I usually ride to work with a coworker, but the app is unable to accurately detect when I am a driver or a passenger, so I was having to go into the app daily to manually edit drives in my history for which the app had incorrectly identified me as the driver, and for which it had subsequently rated my driving behaviour based on someone else driving their own vehicle. I eventually gave up correcting the drive history and just let the app do as it pleases for the last several months in order to see what sort of discount I will be eligible for, based on whatever picture it decided to paint of “my” driving behaviour. Well as I’ve learned, the discount of pennies is not worth giving an insurer a false representation of my driving. I’m not sure if this app’s user data can be used by the insurer to increase one’s rates (I am NOT making any claim that it can), but regardless I don’t think it’s sensible either for the insurer to be collecting data about drivers with which it is constructing false depictions of those driver’s habits, or for drivers to be willingly giving the insurer potentially misleading data to be used in this way. I don’t think this can ever benefit you as a driver. Despite never once touching my phone while driving, never speeding or driving aggressively, this app has constructed a very different picture of me as a driver based on my behaviour primarily as a passenger (using my phone) and the driving behaviour of the person that I’m riding with normally twice per day, five days a week (he’s an aggressive driver). I have disabled the location access for the app and in future will use it only for accessing my insurance card whenever necessary, measly discount be damned. I’ve setup my personal vehicle with a 3 way dash cam kit (front, rear, cabin) and a black box data recorder which combined will construct a truly reliable and far more accurate picture of my actual driving, rather than someone else’s. I am also concerned about what exactly intact does with the data they collect through this app. It clearly doesn’t work for building an accurate picture in at least one circumstance — that of someone who is a passenger in someone else’s vehicle more often than they’re a driver in their own — which leads me to question how reliable it can be for anyon -- KosmicJelly, 2024-12-28 ### ***** "My 15% Safe Driving Discount!!" When I get to work, I check to see how my drive was and it tells me that my speed and acceleration was not good. I don’t know if the apps speed limit doesn’t match the signs that I’m seeing or what… because I don’t know how much slower I could possibly go. Half the time it shows that I am taking a bus and every time I try to change it it just freezes. The map of my drive is usually inaccessible to see where I was not driving well.
