Description

Aircraft Performance Group (APG) has released an application for use on the iPad, which integrates their Runway Analysis (RWA) and Weight and Balance (WB) system with a flight planning module. The combination of these functions allows the user to easily and quickly calculate the available payload for a planned flight – this service is known as MPE™ (Max Payload Estimator).

iPreFlight™, has been developed to run on the iPad using the latest iPad technology. iPreFlight™ is a first-of-a-kind product that requires minimum user input to quickly calculate the available payload for a given city pairing, considering takeoff/landing performance limitations, manufacturers WB requirements and flight planning constraints. The flight planning element utilizes manufacturer’s operational data, in conjunction with current forecast weather conditions to calculate the fuel required for the flight. The fuel calculation includes fuel burn (optimized for minimum fuel or time), reserve, alternate and holding fuel.

In addition to including the RWA, WB and flight plan, iPreFlight™ allows the user to prepare a Flight Book, containing all textual and graphical weather products for the planned flight. The book may be prepared days in advance of the flight, stored on the iPad and can be automatically updated as products are revised. Approaching departure time the user can easily prepare a Flight Release, consolidating the RWA, WB, flight plan and weather products. The Flight Release may then be emailed, stored on the iPad and/or shared with another iPad, such as the other fight deck crewmembers’, by simply selecting the appropriate distribution method(s).

iPreFlight consolidates several preflight functions into one program, not only ensuring accurate takeoff and landing performance limits and correct aircraft loading, but allows pilots to quickly calculate the available payload and fuel requirements for a flight. In addition, iPreflight™ allows pilots to make last minute adjustments with just a few keystrokes. The Flight Release may then be saved on the iPad for review in-flight and shared with the other crewmember,
Application Requirements: To use this application you must be an existing APG customer having a Runway Analysis (Point Calculation) and Weight and Balance services account.

Doesn’t work

LeeorFo5 on

App doesn’t work - frozen at menu - cannot open anything.

New version update message

Pino-650 on

Every time you launch this app, you get a pop-up message saying there is a new version to download from the App Store. When you click update now, it just takes you to the App Store and there is no actual update. This has been going on for the better part of 2023. I really expected it to go away with this new March 2024 update, but it still has the same problem. I find it amazing that they cannot fix this bug for so long.

Update prompt every time is annoying

Pilot012 on

Overall pretty good app. Works offline which is a great feature. Update prompt at every startup need fixed.

It works okay

G21gman on

It works fine enough, however the constant “new version update” message keeps popping up on app opening. select update now…just goes to the App Store …. Current version only….that is a pain. The weight and balance is pretty easy…depends on how accurate you are with the information sent to them. Runway analysis is a good feature and a must have for airports that are in question or high altitude.

The most essential tool available for jet performance planning

MarkeMark on

I’ve been an APG customer and iPreflight business aviation user since inception; the perfromance engineering staff behind this app are the best in the industry. Our company opperates 300+ jet aircraft and advocates all crewmembers use APG for every takeoff and landing, as do most commerical airlines. The worst and last thing that should ever happen is to let ForeFlight anywhere near this product.

Works well enough, but…

Notica007 on

It works well enough, but the constant app update available message o startup every time I try to use the app is annoying. No ability to update the databases without having the app open (no background update) seems like old faulty programming. What is good, is that it is far easier than calculating W&B and told numbers by hand, so there’s that.

Lots of issues

Evilandy138469204727201634 on

Crashing, not sending or receiving books, lots of problems.

Doesn’t seem like they care

Still waiting on on

While a okay program, it doesn’t seem like they care about fixing little issues like the update splash that happens when there is an update. But there really isn’t and if there isn’t then that splash shouldn’t come up. Also, app crashes about 1 time a day on average. Maybe they should just let ForeFlight buy them.

Last update won’t open on my 2 iPads

No to iPreflight update! on

I updated to the latest version and now when I click the icon the splash screen comes up then immediately disappears the program will not run on either of my iPads with iOS 12.5.7. If you have this iOS DON’T UPDATE THE iPREFLIGHT PROGRAM!!

Janky app
