## iWalk Cornwall Description
iWalk Cornwall is a digital walking guide providing circular walks with detailed directions and local information based on over a decade of fieldwork and research.

Both the app and walks are designed and developed in Cornwall and have a big local following. Routes are continually being checked and updated with help from the local community. iWalk Cornwall was Highly Commended in the 2017-2018 Cornwall Tourism Awards and a finalist in the 2017 Cornwall Sustainability Awards.

The app is free to download. Walks are purchased from within the app which includes ongoing free updates. The "Lanhydrock Gardens" walk is included with the app for free so you can try it out, and there is a simulation mode so you can do so without driving there.

Over 300 walks are available in all areas of Cornwall, classified by steepness and length and themes such as coastal walks and pub walks. New walks are also continually being added.

Features:

- Tracks your location using the GPS receiver on your device, providing real-time information as you follow the walk route.
- Directions are triggered by your location, with a beep/vibrate notification when there’s a new direction for you to follow.
- Based on your location, provides information about points of interest along the walk.
- Includes an accurate map of the walk route and surrounding area, showing where you are on it and which way you are facing.
- Warns you if you wander off the walk route, intelligently based on local knowledge (i.e. not with a blind "computer says no" where there is something legitimate to go and see)
- Tells you how far you have left to go and an estimate of time remaining based on your personal walking speed
- Keeps an eye on your battery and if it doesn't look like it will last the walk, offers a number of power-saving strategies
- Once walks are downloaded, the app doesn’t need a mobile signal or internet connection.
- Walks are continually being checked and updated - updates are downloaded for free

The app also includes a mechanism to feed back any footpath issues that you spot to help us work with the Local Authority Countryside Team and parish councils to maintain Cornwall's footpath network.

Note: Users of Wifi-Only (non-cellular/3G) iPads will need an external GPS device to navigate using this app

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

## iWalk Cornwall Reviews in United Kingdom

### ***** "Great app"
Great app. We use it regularly. Finding new walks.
-- Nigel Knucks, 2024-11-10

### *---- "Not free!!!"
The app is not free as stated, you get one walk, not of your choosing, around £4 a suggested walk! The app does not state on the App Store that there are ‘in app purchases’!!
-- Simon Dyer, 2024-11-09

### ***** "Fantastic views"
A bit tricky in places with a few steep climbs.
-- iveypants, 2024-10-27

### ***** "Love this App"
I’ve been coming to Cornwall for 20 yrs and thought I’d seen most of it until I got this App,there’s some absolutel gems on this App and for £2.99 a walk to download it’s well worth it and it’s easy to follow love it
-- HopeHB130, 2024-10-16

### ***** "Best walking app"
I use most of the apps for walking - the instructions, app use is all better than the rest and really added to my holiday
-- Borodino24, 2024-09-27

### ***** "Brilliant app"
Have done 3 walks on my holiday, love the gps map feature recommended to anyone 🥾
-- Peakehiker, 2024-09-20

### ***** "Coverack/ St Keverne walk"
I always get lost so having the iWalk Cornwall app is like having a friend hold my hand. The directions are detailed and easy to follow and there’s lots of flora and fauna facts to entertain and inform you. I think these guys are amazing, it’s obvious they really care about Cornwall as well. And each walk is about the same price as a coffee so it’s really reasonable. Great stuff!
-- Acorn Annie, 2024-09-19

### ***** "Lanhydrock"
Really lovely circular walk taking in woodlands, riverside and fantastic views of the house and garden.
-- Andy5253, 2024-09-09

### ***** "One of the best apps ever!"
Absolutely brilliant - very detailed, super clear, step by step directions that automatically update as you go along, lots of interesting info points along the way, doesn’t need wifi, loads of walks of varying lengths and difficulties. They’ve thought of everything! Love it:)
-- Sleepy chow-chow, 2024-09-05

### ***** "Simply the best walking app!"
We have done about 10 of walks now and love them. The route guidance is very clear and delivery of the next stage very timely. You will not get lost or be unsure whether you’re going the right way. I just wish there was other areas covered like Devon and Somerset.
