For a big company like JD it is appalling that after 90+ gyms they have not bothered to give an app that is more than a key card. Surely the gyms make enough money to get ACTUAL developers to make an app that is fully functional and useful.

You have to go onto Google maps to see the estimate of how busy the gym could be. You can’t even book classes in advance. Utterly useless!! And let there not be no WiFi in the gym or else you’ll just be locked in. If I could give it zero star I would!

2nd time going to the gym, with no warnings about this I scan my code too quickly after someone and now I’m locked out while my mates have gone in to work out! This was never a problem at PureGym as it just reset and let you scan again… and at JD if you forget something in your car don’t bother getting it as you will be locked out for an unknown time due to no early re-entry

What a waste. This app has little value other than entry and exit to the gyms. The landing page has been blank since I first joined well over a year ago go with the works ‘Fitness Feed Coming Soon’. It doesn’t even track your gym visits, never mind progress and workouts etc. No class or PT info, no community and no branch info, messages, announcements etc.

Bad interface, QR codes don't generate because there's rarely service in the gyms, long response times from head office when you submit a form or email regarding an issue, don't get emails if you forget your passwords. Not user friendly compared to other commercial gyms that have alternatives in place if your point of access fails.

I paid £60 even though it should of been £21.99 because I missed a payment and then I got fined £15 which may of been my fault but they decided to charge the month before that £21.99 even though I got an offer for £5 and paid for it so I had to pay £26.99 for one month. 
Another bad thing is that if you want to cancel your membership, it takes 30 days so they are squeezing  another month of payment out of you.The support line to help me was terrible and was an AI giving obvious advice which is disappointing as I expected a real human to discuss my payment options.
Quite shocking as the Gym is very clean and big and has a lot of good facilities.

This app is absolutely pointless. All it does is show the QR code of your PIN. You can just make your own and use that to scan in and out. The signal in my gym is poor so the app barely functions so I’ve ditched this and use my own QR

Should be compatible with Apple Watch. All it needs to do is generate a QR code for access in/out of the gym. 

It’s a pain having to take my phone as well as Apple Watch, keys, towel, headphones etc. if I could just cut down on the phone at least!

### *---- "No WiFi - can’t exit gym!"
This app would be usable if the WiFi in the gym worked, but it never does. The building has weak mobile signal, so the WiFi is essential to load a QR code. I’ve reported the problem several times and never gets fixed. 
This problem was solved decades ago… Just issue cards with a barcode and validate them against your billing system on entry. It’s not rocket science (although that’s what it’s now become thanks to this app)

I have the JD app on my phone, my phone broke but I was unable to up load the app on an older phone and there was no other for of entry so I had to miss gym whilst my phone was being repaired..you really do need another form of entry and have both an app and id code for instanced like this.

JD Gym is still lagging behind!!!!  No AppleWatch compatible app?  An app to , generate QR entry access codes at a minimum would be good.   JD Gym missed opportunity to tap in on the fitness wearables market, by not offering apps on smartwatch . JD should also include workout exercises. Ability to log and track workouts activities. Virtual trainer. Virtual classes. Stream video feed that being broadcast in Gym To make this a 5* experience

The app is great, but it would be even better with a couple of additional features. I wish it had the ability to track how many times you visit the gym each month and how long you spend there during each session. It would also be helpful to know how many people are at the gym before you go. If these features were added, I’d give the app a five-star review. However, as it stands, it’s a three-star for me.

The fact JD force you to use this app to gain entry and exit to the gyms is my biggest problem.
You can be stood at the gate and it won’t scan.
So inconsistent if it scans or doesn’t. It may or may not even generate a QR code.

I've been using JD Gym for a while now, and while I think the gym itself is fantastic—better than PureGym in many ways—I'm a bit let down by the app. The range of equipment at JD Gym is superior, offering more variety and helping me get the most out of my workouts. The gym facilities are clean and modern, and the sauna is a definite highlight, adding a touch of luxury that you don't get at PureGym.

However, when it comes to the app and classes, I have to say PureGym does a better job. The JD Gym app feels a bit clunky and could use some improvements in user-friendliness and features. Booking classes is straightforward, but the class variety and overall experience seem more polished at PureGym. 

All in all, while the gym itself at JD is excellent, especially with the added perk of a sauna, I think the app and class offerings still have some catching up to do compared to PureGym.
