Complicated. But so far works well
This is our go-to application for remotely controlling a mac from iPad Pros. Only two issues: (1) It does NOT have “full support” for the Apple Pencil as stated in the app description. The Apple Pencil does indeed work well, which we’ll call “basic support.” But it does not support pressure sensitivity, tilt detection, or double taps from Apple Pencil Pro. (2) Roughly half the time, reconnecting to a Mac will resize the screen display so that black bands are visible on the top and bottom of the screen. This can be fixed by going into display settings once you’re connected, and turning off and on “Match iPad Display.” So, there’s a work-around, but it’s getting old.
VNC to MacOS. Drag the finger from top of the screen to bottom, the window only scrolls 1 cm. How come this buggy software is on shelf for years without anyone fixing the obvious bug?
I love that it supports the keyboard in games, unlike MS own RDP app. My problem with this app is that MS RDP has much higher fps. I can get 30 fps with MS RDP, but jumpcloud is like 5 fps for 10mbps. Windows event log says that jumpcloud does not support UDP and I don’t think it supports H264/avc which I enabled via local Group Policy.
I like it. My concern would be security, I hope it doesn't leak. It does work even though host(win11) has RDP and TeamViewer disabled, and client has Meshnet off. If the host turns Cloudflare on, I need to reconnect Jump. It also works with ipados18.2beta. Any of the previous would make Microsoft Apps stop working (18.2beta, cloudflare on, meshnet off). Compared to Teamviewer, Jump is much cheaper and does auto-adjust my display resolution to match the ipad retina. Also it works better with my bluetooth mouse (tV got the location kinda wrong). I'll edit this in a few months if I find problems
Can we at least get an iOS 18 icon?
Logging in is a disaster. Every one of my devices I use as a client gets a different list of computer. It’s all over the place. Other than that, it’s great.
I have struggled with Real VNC, Splashtop, Anydesk, and TeamViewer to get them set up for my iPad Pro to remote into my Mac with limited results. Google Remote Desktop only works when you’re at the remote computer to allow access. Jump was very easy to set up, works well, and allows me to leave my Mac at home and just use my iPad on business trips. I recommend Jump Desktop for frequent travelers!
This is without a doubt the best Mac Remote Desktop tool I have ever used. However I have two suggestions to make it even better: 1) Have the option so that when we login remotely to a Mac that the Dock will always show. I usually have it hidden, but when working remotely is kind of hard to access it. And 2) we need a simple way to view the shortcuts available without having to google or crawl through the documentation. For example, it took me many minutes to figure out that Option+Tab does the same on my remote machine as a local Cmd+Tab, and similarly to switch desktops inside the remote machine. Do these things as this is a solid 5+ star app.
Everything is so nice, just the app icon… is a bit outdated… please redesign it. At least support dark mode
