Jump Desktop (RDP FAQ
Is Jump Desktop (RDP free?
Yes, Jump Desktop (RDP is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Jump Desktop (RDP legit?
🤔 The Jump Desktop (RDP app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
It’s installed on the PC and on the iPad. I’m logged in on both and they’re on the same network. Nothing works, the devices don’t see each other, there’s no-where to enter my remote access code, and when I try to do anything it tells me to buy the Enterprise Edition.
The guide bears no relation to anything in either app. I imagine it’s out of date.
I’m giving it 2 starts instead of 1 because there probably is a way to make it work. It’s anyone’s guess what that is though. The positive reviews are probably from IT experts or computer science boffins.
It just works
I run a mixed OS environment with devices and boxes in various rooms on different floors. After only a few days I added this to my ‘indispensable tool’ list. I can sit on one place on either my Mac or iPad and do different tasks on multiple machines simultaneously.
Works well enough, improvement in UI is needed
The app work as intended. I used it with stage manager and this is the only App that can allow me to properly use Stage Manager in a way that I can have a VNC screen in Window mode on either screen without affecting the other.
However, the app would need some UI updates, it is quite old fashioned. Also there is a weird logo screen in the external screen when starting the App.
Real VNC got rid of their free tier. No regrets getting this one.
This app is super great! I really appreciate the interface and it works even faster than real VNC ever did!
Jump into nowhere
If you are looking for a remote control ptogram that can do everything you can do on your Mac, this is not it. In fact! So far I have not found any remote control program that can do anything even remotely similar. The image shown does not accurately reflect the Mac screen. It's a pain to use, because each task takes much longer than if you were doing it on your Mac. If you use multiple desktops on your Mac, you can't easily switch between them. However, the protocols used by the app can interfere with secure payment methods, so it's recommended that you exit the app completely before using important shopping or government sites.
So useful
Connect easily to desktop and now can lock remote screen, a valuable addition. Not experienced any issues, just make sure to create your login and use that id in settings, you need to have remote login and screen sharing, or remote managememt turned on.
Doesn’t seem to work with iPadOS 17
After updating to iPadOS 17 Jump no longer shows up any RDP servers, just a black screen.
Fantastic app, but never updated
This app is great but why is it never updated? Is it literally so perfect that it never requires any modification of any kind? If you pay for software, its generally great that it works well over an extended period of time. But you also are paying for development support too; app improvements, new features and particularly app optimisations. I’m glad I bought it but at the same time feel let down by the developers.
Over the top data usage
This app just eats mobile data in the background and there is no option to disable background app refresh. So, when I’m on the road I have to constantly disable/enable mobile data when I need to access a computer remotely.
The app also has the habit to autonomously reconnect to machines I disconnected from. If I’m not on the ball, JumpDesktop can easily eat a GB or two of mobile data in just a couple of hours whilst running on the background.
It would be a great app if it wasn’t for these highly significant and very annoying issues.
We need customisable keyboard macros
Better than MS RDP but still not perfect for the ipad magic keyboard
I bought this hoping this can make the windows RDP experience perfect but I find the some of the macro scheme not very helpful and getting in the way of original windows shortcuts.
Customisable macros would solve this once for all.
Would also be useful if the globe key can be utilised as a function key.
