Kiwix enables you to have the whole of Wikipedia (and many other web sites) available wherever you go! On a boat, in the middle of nowhere, or when data charges are too high, Kiwix gives you access to the whole human knowledge for free. You don't need Internet, everything is stored on your mobile device!
Download Kiwix from the iTunes App Store then download the ZIM data files which contain the content. You can download these files directly using the Kiwix App on your iPhone, or iPad - but this might take a long time, may incur expensive charges for the download, and is liable to errors because some files are rather large.
A faster and more reliable method is to use a computer to download the small torrent file for the large non-indexed ZIM file you want (not the pre-indexed package for Windows) from http://www.kiwix.org/wiki/Content_in_all_languages, then use a bit-torrent client (such a qTorrent) to download the actual ZIM data file to your computer. You can then transfer the ZIM file to your iOS device using iTunes File Sharing.

Not as good as I'd hoped
When I first heard about this app, I had high hopes for it and imagined that I could have a library of files on my NAS which I could access from the app without filling up my iPad (the full Wikipedia is over 100GB).
Despite my Mac not having the specifications to use the Kiwix app (requires macOS 12), I can install a browser extension (on Brave) which allows me full access to files stored on my Synology NAS but when I tried to use the Kiwix app on my iPad, it appeared to be downloading the whole file from the NAS to my iPad and apart from filling up my precious iPad space was going to take a long time doing it - I abandoned it but from the rolling numbers looked like a couple of hours at least.
So, close but no cigar from me, Kiwix, sorry.
Great for students
My school doesn’t have any student wifi, so Kiwix is great as a sort of easy internet substitute for looking stuff up on and ipad or similar device
Excellent app
Does exactly what I wanted it to do - I’m now able to access Wikipedia even when I don’t have any connection to the internet.
Free, offline access to Wikipedia, TED, and others. Does exactly what it says, and for free
Does exactly what it says
Download manager has a huge bug
The Download Manager need to be fixed...take to an end and nothing happens...
Fast, well structured
Though some labels were not parsed well, it is structured. You can find sections quickly. A little large (lib file), maybe for speed or structure reason
Brilliant Resouce
Allows you to download a snapshot of Wikipedia and I mean over 5 million articles. I choose the 20gb version because I don't need pictures.
Now I've got the ability to check anything I want wherever and whenever.
I'd rate it 5 but the downloadable database is from December 2016. Still bloody good though.
Wikipedia in your pocket! Best app ever!
For me, Wikipedia is the Internet. I spend a lot of time away without connectivity, so being able to have a 60GB snapshot of the site in its entirety is amazing (ok admittedly with no multimedia and low res images). It means I can be miles from anywhere and still satiate my curiosity about, well, almost anything!
The only (very) small gripe I have is that sometimes the article will load with an incredibly narrow column of text to the right of a index table, which can be difficult to read. But that's a small price to pay!
All in all, I think it's my favourite app.
Wiki Heaven
Been looking for this since the other offline Wikis went, errr, offline...
Fabulous!
