I’m a machine knitter. I love KnitsThatFit the program gives me the right shaping and stitch counts. I can customize my garments too. It’s a terrific. Thank you 🎀 Jacqueline. I’ve been using both the sweater and the hat app for machine knitting for over 10 yrs. It’s so customizable that I can add dimensions to my garments. I can use any stitch pattern I like. I can make a hoodie out of a funnel neck cardigan. I can add a peplum edge to a basic pullover or add a skirt to a sleeveless drop shoulder for a sundress and so much more. It’s always in my pocket when inspiration strikes me. Love, love, love it.
Loved the free app when I used it a year ago, now it refuses to open saved patterns and general at the pattern. Just crashes. Support link won’t open. Just spent $15 on the paid app hoping that would work instead and it doesn’t. Crashes ups on saving and crashes when trying to open pattern.
I made four tries to create a pattern. Every time, the app glitches out in the middle of entering measurements, returning to the start screen. Very disappointing and worthless. Money down the drain.
I had to start over 4x after entering a lot of information because the app sent me back to the main screen when I tapped the option for custom sizes. Additionally, every single time you make a change in the form, you get a pop up notification walking you through how to fill out the form. That’s fine the first time, but it gets obnoxious really quickly and it doubles the number of taps needed to do literally anything. I suppose that’s fine if it produces a reasonable pattern, and I will be testing that soon. You only have to do it once per garment, after all. But the UI was tricky enough that it motivated me to actually write a review. For a $13 app, I expected a little more in terms of usability. I hope some of these things can be smoothed out, because the flexibility of the customizations available looks amazing. Things I’d change: no more pop ups with explanations (help button for each one instead?) allow saving unfinished forms for patterns (or fix the bug that deleted all my entered info), allow numerical entry instead of scrolling through numbers 1, 1.5, 2, …, and a diagram for the custom measurements (no idea what underarm length is, for example)
But so far the sweater pattern has been spot on
I had a problem with the app that turned out to be my not understanding something. I wrote for help and got excellent service and response!
Needs more work. Circular, top-down, bottom-up not in app. No styles other than set in sleeve types. The options you can choose need to be more refined (depths, widths). App doesn't remember your choices when you click to change them, so you have to scroll through measurements a half inch at a time, every time. Needs a little better handling of that kind of "remembering".
Great app. Easy to use with some wonderful features. I love the stitch and row counts which makes it simple to track your work and also allows easy adjustment for different stitch patterns. The schematic shows a lot of info and provides a great visual check. The ability to either print or create a PDF is also very handy. The developer is very responsive to questions and is continually adding new features. Get it ! You can't go wrong.
I have been kitting for 15 years but sweaters intimidate me. I have done exactly one and it turned out awful. I was always trying to recreate someone else's garment so gauge, fiber, etc. was never the same and I couldn't duplicate it. Thank you for making this a doable project. Finally a tool to work with the yarn and gauge I have. Look out stash, here I come!
