## KnotRef Description
KnotRef is a plain, fast knot reference for the 31 knots you actually need. Every knot carries what it is for, numbered steps written in words, and a warning where one is deserved. It works entirely offline, so it is there on the boat, at the crag and at the campsite where there is no signal.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Look up 31 knots across 8 categories: bends, hitches, loops, stoppers, climbing, sailing, fishing and utility.
- Read numbered tying steps for every knot, written as instructions rather than diagrams you have to decode.
- Search by name, by a common alias, or by the job you are doing. Weavers knot finds the sheet bend, Italian hitch finds the Munter.
- Filter to one category when you only want the sailing knots, the fishing knots or the climbing knots.
- Tap a knot to open its steps, plus its other names and a warning where it has them, then tap it again to close it.
- Check the approximate strength a knot leaves in the line, on the knots where that figure is established.
- Read the safety warning on the knots that carry one, including the square knot capsizing when used to join two ropes and the clove hitch slipping along a pole.
- Read it in dark or light, following whatever your phone is set to.
- Work with no account, no sign up and no connection.

WHO IT IS FOR
Climbers tying in to a harness, sailors making off to a cleat, anglers joining tippet to leader, scouts and their leaders, campers pitching a tarp on a taut-line hitch, and anyone tying down a load who wants the truckers hitch done properly.

PRIVACY
KnotRef makes no network requests at all. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising identifiers. It saves nothing about you: every knot is built into the app itself.
