As an experience it beat Amazon’s version hands down, except in one area. The syncing between devices is hit and miss, but the Home Screen and Reading experience are much better. Your current book is prioritised, the wishlist feature is a great idea and you can even edit the order things should appear.

Fails to deliver the basics. The book position is never synchronised with the same book on my kobo e-reader. This has apparently been a problem for years. What use is it having an Amazon competitor if they don’t deliver some of the most basic functionality? There’s no way to exit a partially read book and go back to My Books.  I have to read one book all the way through then mark it read before I can start reading another? Really? It makes no difference whether Lockdown is effective for the app or not. I prefer the Kobo Libra 2 for its framed screen over my Kindle Oasis but find myself hitting settings by accident far too often no matter what choices are set.

I have very few Kobo books so far - I’ve been a Kindle user for far longer - but I don’t feel like persevering with Kobo - but reading shouldn’t be something that needs you to persevere with the physical book itself. I really think I’ll stick with Kindle in future.
