Ok for planning routes

Afs_02 on

United Kingdom

Occasionally I can’t alter the route by dragging points. But on the whole it’s easy to use. And the routes are generally on more safe roads. The cycle paths it uses can be confusing and frustrating. Not always obvious where they are, and often pointless.

Amazing…but

This app is probably the best hiking app I have used, I use it every weekend for a new locations. Interface wise I’m very used to it and wouldn’t wanna change anything. Only thing i would like to see in future updates is reviews from other people that have used those routes…only because the last few walks I’ve been on the routes were very overgrown and impossible to walk through and quite dangerous in areas, so would like to see other users comments or comment myself before someone makes their way there and is more prepared in that sense. This is only something small otherwise it is very easy to see where other routes are in case of that happening so its not a massive deal it’s just nice to see personal recommendations on actual walks beforehand.

Only app I’ve recommended

Honestly tried a few biking apps and trackers but after seeing @Ryan Van Duzer and @Keep Smiling adventures using Komoot I can’t stop raving about it. I genuinely prefer getting lost to planning routes but like to remember where I got lost. Excellent app and gives you ideas where to get lost and see the worlds wonderful things. Literally in 44 years I have never recommended an app. This one. Thank you Komoot and community explorers.

Komoot = 5/5. Ruined for real-world navigation by lack of screen lock

Piplodocus on

United Kingdom

Let me start by saying this is a must-have app in my book. I love Komoot. I use it on desktop/web, and the mobile apps and use it to plot all my routes for my garmin cycling computer. I also pay for premium because I like and use it a lot. So why only 3 stars? It’s a 5 star app generally on nearly all counts. But gets this purely because there’s no way to lock the touch screen. Normally I use my garmin edge 830 these days for all my bike navigation. But last night didn’t have my garmin so used this app on the phone and it brought back all the memories of exactly why I bought the Garmin in the first place… If it’s drizzling or raining or you’re hot and sweat drips on the phone it’s CONSTANTLY stopping centering/following your route and asking you if you want to add points. So you’re either having to stop every minute or 2 or you’re trying to ride along while trying to press X on the add a point pop-up window, then trying to tap the re-centre button, and again to revert to up being direction of travel. This happens *constantly* and gradually drives me to the point of being furious with rage. So yes, this app and the Komoot ecosystem is great and arguably it’s not their fault phone touchscreens are poor in the rain. But it’s not my fault this is the reality and if it had a smallish “lock” button on the screen so a drip has to land right there, then when tapping it, it pops up with a second “press here to unlock” and tapping anywhere else on the screen just clears it and reverts to locked mode it would entire stop this occurring in 99% of cases and be infinitely more useable to navigate with. Alternatively have to go into an “add new points” mode off the start/pause navigation menu to add new waypoints while navigating, as once I’m navigating it’s only maybe 1% of the time I want to add a new waypoint, and it’s adding points by tapping on the map that’s the issue >95% of the time (sure, sometimes rain makes it go into pause/stop navigation menu, but that’s far, far less often that menu is accidentally triggered but the map - nearly the entire screen - is susceptible to constantly trying to add new waypoints). Regardless, there’s got to be some way to make false taps on the map irrelevant to the current navigation. Is 3/5 harsh and maybe almost attention-seeking for this one small annoyance? As I say I love this app in many ways. But living in the UK it’s often raining, and it also happens if your phone is on your bike’s bars and you’re dripping sweat in

Stupid app

vwaudiporsche on

United Kingdom

Stupid app difficult to navigate, kept coming up with add location on route, was a barely a route at all in places, almost lost all together in middle of forest! Had to abort app in end & used Google maps to get back, very frustrating experience

Utterly useless

Disgruntledx100. on

United Kingdom

Time and time again when I’ve used Kommot, it has suggested to go down a path that doesn’t exist, cross a field that is fenced off or suggests to walk a path that is impassable. I’ve paid for the UK map and feel cheated. The app can’t be trusted and I won’t be using it again. Don’t buy.

Could you add EUC (electric unicycle) please?

Could you add to the sports list EUC (electric unicycle) please? I'm choosing a mountain e-bike while I'm riding on Euc. Kind regards Izabela

Arrows

At the point when the trail gets complicated and you need to zoom in to navigate the direction arrows almost disappear , making a difficult situation worse ( they need to proportionally stay the same ) iPhone 10

How is this app popular…

virsce on

United Kingdom

I’ll begin with the two worst things I’ve found with this app. 1. Gps- it’s all over the place - and no there’s no obstacle, or tunnels or anything. 2. Rain… every drop of rain on the screen tells me to add a way point. This is by far the most frustrating thing to happen when it’s hammering it down and I just want to get where I’m going. I’m not putting my waterproof device in a frakkin freezer bag. And for a bonus, the fact you have to click through constantly to end a route is annoying-and the fact that I have to listen to what essentially Microsoft Michael for directions on the iPhone can just **** off. Works cycle app I’ve used to date.
