News articles timing

I read the Columbus Dispatch and the Lancaster Eagle Gazette every day. I understand the nature of the industry today, that there will be the same article in multiple editions. My complaint is that some of these articles are days apart and I have to start reading the article again to see if it is the the original or an update. Another complaint is about some of the sports articles. Today’s EG had a two page article on the Baltimore Orioles. I am a sports fan and follow the Cleveland Guardians regularly and the Reds occasionally. If I want information on another team, I can look it up.

Cannot get the enewspaper I cannot get the crossword puzzle. This app is not a good app. It doesn’t work as it should. I would not recommend.

Why, Why, Why

Smroot on

Well the money hungry guru’s have struck again in this latest app. We now have wonderful pop up ads on the opening screen of the newspaper. Not small ones but at least a quarter page of the newspaper screen on my eye pad. Why? They have taken away the print function for an article or a puzzle. For years, and the one reason I went digital only, I have gotten up early in the morning, made my cup of coffee and started the day printing out the Suduko, Celebrity Cipher and crossword puzzle and enjoyed quiet time while working my puzzles and drinking a couple of cups of coffee. Puzzles are good for keeping the mind of an old person, which I am, active and some researchers say warding off dementia. But this pleasure has been taken away by the ones who care less about the aged. I have been able to travel and read the paper wherever I am and do my puzzles if I had access to a printer. But no longer. Why? The last major update they did, allowed us to use the old style of the previous version, while they were able to incorporate new concepts in technology in their app. I guess the programmers they had were smarter then and those they have now are incapable of doing the same thing. As a matter of fact other then the little glitzy changes that I guess youngster want, who around here I don’t know of any young person who even reads the paper, the obnoxious ads that come up on the Eedition opening page and the fact there is no way to print anything, there is not much change visible. WHY? While I do not enjoy the sometimes very biased based reporting of our so called local reporters, I do and always have been a long time subscriber to the Lancaster Eagle Gazette, over 50 years. I embraced the online edition of the paper because I could keep up with my hometown happenings while traveling and spending winters in Florida, but now, I have to ponder continuing my subscription. It is sad for me, but I think the journalism for Lancaster is heading the same direction I am in my advanced age. Do they hold funerals for newspapers that have died?

I’ve been a subscriber to the Eagle Gazette for years, but I can’t figure out how to sign in on the app! I’m not getting the Saturday online edition or any of the crosswords I would like to play. I have access to only five articles a week? Terrible!

This app doesn’t even load stories before it crashes whenever it’s not on wifi, which happens to be the majority of the time.

Poorly functioning app

B.Lawlis on

United States

An app designed solely for ad space, with almost little to no value for news reading. The news content is fine, but the app runs like very poorly.
