## Lifer Description
Lifer turns birding into a daily collecting game.

Identify birds by sound or camera, catch them as beautiful species cards, build your Aviary, grow your Life List, and turn every walk into a birding adventure.

■ Catch Birds By Sound Or Camera
- Hear something nearby? Audio Catch listens for birds, shows their song on a live spectrogram and brings animated birds onto the screen to catch.
- See a bird instead? Camera Catch uses Lifer AI to help identify birds from photos.
- Got a camera? Field Camera identifies photos from your own camera and turns verified shots into catches.
- Audio Catch runs on-device, so you can keep detecting even when you are offline.

■ Collect Species Cards
- Every catch flies into a collectible bird card with points based on rarity and catch quality.
- Each card is stamped with the real-world biome where it was found, such as woodland, wetland, coast, countryside, or urban.
- Chase Rare and Legendary birds, Prismwing cards, streaks, Bird of the Day, milestones, and a growing collection of every species you have seen.

■ Explore Nests
- Discover over 4,000 parks, reserves, National Trust sites, RSPB reserves, and other birding locations across the UK and Europe.
- Contribute catches to each Nest’s shared record of species, sightings, photos, and first discoveries.
- Explore local leaderboards and compete to become the rolling Nest Guardian.
- Search nearby Nests, follow their activity and celebrate Guardian stories in the social feed.
- Your exact catch coordinates remain private.

■ Share With GBIF
- Choose to share qualifying UK and European catches with GBIF - the world’s largest open-access biodiversity database.
- Help birds and science!

■ Bird With Friends
- Join Birding Parties to catch birds together as a group.
- Follow other birders, react to catches, celebrate milestones, and climb the rankings.
- Create private Flocks for family, friends, bird clubs, or local groups, with shared Life Lists, feeds, and leaderboards.

■ Track Your Birding Life
- Map your catches, grow UK county coverage, track countries across Europe, and collect US states and Canadian provinces.
- Start Bird Walks to record your route, distance, and species count.
- Import exported sightings from other birding apps into your Life List.

## Lifer Reviews in United Kingdom

### ***** "Such an unique and wonderful app"
As a user of a certain poker monster capture game this was such a nice refreshing change to “collect” real life experience. I have never been a bird watcher and I couldn’t identify a blue tit from a pigeon but Lifer solved this, I had no idea how many different birds visited my garden let alone in the local area around me. Lifer identified them all for me.

### ***** "Clocked into the birds!!"
Joined the community by chance, and now I’m a bird addict. I’m at the point where if I see or hear a bird(s) when I’m out and about, I can’t open the app quick enough.

The camera and mic feature are incredibly sensitive allowing you to get the best quality pictures, and sounds. User friendly software too, and I LOVE the rankings.

It’s also contributing well to my health/fitness as I’m looking for any excuse to go exploring after work…. Just call me the dopamine bird chaser.

Thank you 😊

### ***** "Game changing"
Loving this app! The sound ID is great and the app is incredibly simple to use. Loving all the extra features it has. The design and UI is crisp and smooth. Keep up the good work!

### ***** "Fab way to get outdoors!"
Really fun app to get all of the family outside and see how many birds we can catch. Looking forward to using more over the summer!
-- Herrh97, 2026-07-17

### ***** "Addictive"
Saw this and thought it looked like fun. Little did I realise how addictive I would find it! Every time I hear a bird I’m grabbing my phone, yes that’s a me problem but still it’s fun and you start noticing so much more around you. I find it easy to use and a great way to educate yourself a little about different birds.

### ***** "One word fantastic"
Love my walks but this app has showed me all the different birds there are and all about them,it’s become a competition now between me and my better half who gets the most points each day and most species.
The background painting are beautiful too and love how they change on different settings
A must download and try 🐦‍⬛🪿🦅🦆

### *---- "Too much going on"
Very busy app and felt quite overwhelming when I logged in.
-- H7609!, 2026-07-16

### *---- "Sound id"
Sound detection is not as good as Merlin, it often gets the birds wrong but still says high confidence which is misleading and doesn’t pick them up from as far away which is annoying :(
-- a12678, 2026-07-16

### ***** "Breath of fresh air"
I didn’t think this would be as relaxing, and as fun, as it is. I’ve dabbled with different birding things in the past - mainly out of interest in how clever they are at identifying a specific bird from a short recording.
But lifer takes it to another level. You feel like you’re making progress, you feel like you’re part of a community and it’s just an aesthetically pleasing app all round.

### ***** "The perfect companion for your adventures outdoors!"
This app has been a game changer for walking my dog or even just walking to the shops.

The catch mechanic works super well and is super simple to use and understand, like the rest of the app.

Super fun app and something that I will be using often!
