## Light Meter LM-3000 Description
Turn your smartphone into a professional-grade light meter. Measure illuminance (lux/foot-candle) and color temperature (CCT in Kelvin) with unmatched accuracy — trusted by photographers, engineers, and lighting professionals worldwide.

Why waste money on a hardware meter when you’re already carrying one in your pocket?

The LM-3000 offers the same quality and usability as a traditional hardware light meter.
Developed by optics scientists at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, LM-3000 is the only light meter app scientifically validated for accuracy. It achieves professional-grade precision by leveraging your iPhone's front-facing camera sensor with advanced RAW image processing. Unlike relying on estimates like other apps, it adheres to the ISO/CIE 19476 standard, ensuring measurements you can trust for critical applications.

DIFFUSER REQUIRED

Like every real light meter, the LM-3000 requires a diffuser to measure accurately. A diffuser scatters incoming light evenly on the sensor and prevents hotspots. While it may sound complex, the solution is surprisingly easy. You have two options:

1) Easily build a diffuser yourself in less than a minute using standard printer paper. This is accurate enough for most use cases.

2) Get the dedicated Diffuser Accessory (free worldwide shipping) for best accuracy and convenience. More details on

(!) Avoid apps that don’t require a diffuser! They are inaccurate because they ignore the basic physics of light measurement.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY

The LM-3000 is free to download and comes with a free trial period. The trial period lasts for two non-consecutive days, giving you enough time to see if the app fits your needs. The status of your free trial will be shown as the "battery level" on the top right of the LM-3000's display and on the "Battery Status" screen.

Once your light meter's "battery" is depleted, you may choose a Charging Option to keep using the app. You can pick what works best for you:
→ Single Charge — top-up for another 48 hours (perfect for occasional use),
→ Continuous Charging — a monthly subscription (great if you use it regularly),
→ Unlimited Battery — a one-time purchase for unlimited lifetime access

LM-3000 is the result of over five years of dedicated research and development, ensuring you get a tool that is precise and reliable. Every in-app purchase supports future development and helps keep the app ad-free for everyone.

ACCURACY

Accuracy is not an afterthought — Apps developed by Lightray Innovation are developed according to the ISO/CIE 19476 standard. Thanks to RAW image processing and a default calibration per device model they’re able to match the performance of high quality traditional hardware light meters. To ensure quality we rigorously test our apps regularly on upcoming devices.

## Light Meter LM-3000 Reviews in United States

### ***** "Listen I’m not a review guy but,"
I never write reviews I’m usually just a guy who downloads something and if I like it great! And if I don’t like it that’s just too bad. But this is the ONLY light meter app that told me I need a diffuser! I was always so confused on why my grow lights were only measured at 100 foot candles. 10/10 app I love it
-- Billy Bob Joe XVII, 2024-12-19

### *---- "Unusable"
Not worth the time to download. It throws up pop up ads on top of the user interface every 5 seconds making it impossible to use or see tne readings. It makes it as difficult as it can to close the pop ups until you click through everything and then once you do you have only a few seconds to use it before the pop up begins again unless you purchase a diffuser from the developer.
-- DrewCLS, 2024-12-18

### *---- "Deceptive Business"
Just say it’s a paid app, and I might actually pay for it. To list is a free app then force me to pay to use the app AFTER I’ve downloaded is deceptive and I will go out of my way to let my photographer friends know not to use this app.
-- Japela123, 2024-11-29

### ***** "Awesome app"
This works perfectly and I am super happy that it has both reading instructions AND a video this app is amazing and is literally perfect for science research for light and bioluminescence it is also easy to use 10/10 love the app
-- Psycho_girl7272, 2024-11-14

### *---- "Requires a Diffuser"
It’s wildly inaccurate unless you have a diffuser. But at that point you may as well buy a dedicated light meter. I have one but thought it would be more convenient to have an app on my phone that I carry around everywhere.
-- King Melchizedek, 2024-11-02

### **--- "Why is the camera on the front?"
Maybe I’m the outlier for the usage here but I need it to use the regular iPhone camera the front camera is totally useless for my needs.
-- Mattthinkshopperisbad134, 2024-10-30

### ***** "Day 1 Light Meter LM-3000 TM"
This is day 1 using the Light Meter LM-3000 app. Worked 6 hours on grow shelving and light set up. The app worked great. I have 3 different LED shop lights installed and the light meter was consistent based on specifications of the light and the placement. So far so good. Thanks.
-- True Plant, 2024-10-16

### *---- "Yeah. A scam."
It was pretty cool. I work in a calibration lab and deal with real ones. But then, I decide to use it and I can’t without buying some kind of battery app. I realize everyone needs to earn a living from their labors however, let me know in a very obvious manner, that this is a free trial which will eventually end. I saw nothing to indicate that. I feel “tricked”. They need to fix that and they’ll have better ratings.
-- Teddytoons, 2024-09-30

### *---- "Can’t cancel"
Frustrating
-- Mary Caps, 2024-09-05

### ****- "Not a spot meter but works"
Caught traveling without a meter and been exploring iPhone meters. This one’s not much use to me bc it has no spot metering. But for a cheap to free app, it’s not bad. Not sure how accurate it is, but it’s probably close enough to get you in the ballpark if you’re shooting old film cameras and not interested in distant shots.
