Lightfoot helps drivers use less fuel, reduce harmful emissions and stay safe every time they drive.

And because better driving is good for all of us, Lightfoot rewards its drivers with loads of additional goodies like prizes, cash giveaways and more.

Lightfoot is a small device for your vehicle that monitors your engine data, just like Formula 1 data analytics, and then feeds back to the driver via LED lights and audio. It helps drivers be as smooth as possible, meaning you're one of the safest and most fuel-efficient drivers on the road.

### *---- "Downright Dangerous."
I cannot believe this is actually legal. This thing is ridiculous and frankly, dangerous. It's impossible to safely accelerate to a sensible speed when crossing or joining a dual carriageway, entering a roundabout, or accelerating on a motorway slip road, without hitting the orange or red lights and getting a warning. Even increasing my vans speed from 50 to 51mph with the cruise control, on a flat road, will bring on 2 or 3 green lights, go from 50-55mph and you’re almost in the red! I've read the developer replies, and it seems they've made 100% unachievable, which is ludicrous.

Most times I open the app it tells me I’m using the incorrect password even though it’s save in the password chain on my iPhone so I don’t know why it’s doing that. works fine for a while then oops wrong password. Maybe the programmer need to look at this.

### *---- "Flawed design, will not improve mpg."
The Lightfoot system promotes the idea that accelerating slowly is the most fuel efficient way of driving.
In reality a combustion engine is at its most efficient when running at a certain RPM, the reason engines have gearboxes is to help maintain this RPM. Accelerating slowly as guided increases the time the engine spends outside its optimum range reducing the overall fuel efficiency. Costing you more over all not less.

So the app itself is a great idea! I get the whole joining carriageways can be annoying however I do find myself using carriageways and highways and still manage to achieve a score of around 90-94% weekly. The only grumble I have is at the moment when viewing results of winning a prize the app freezes before letting you know if you have won anything, currently been stuck for a week now and still awaiting to see the results..

This tech is the worst thing to have happened to my place of work,loved working there before we got lightfoot.i score 99.7 on average each and every week yet i am getting it in the ear almost daily about cornering events,braking events AND acceleration events even though i don’t even go into the red light ever.i can understand being pulled for cornering events but when my DM shows me where i am “going wrong” im just driving down a country road,going round a Massive roundabout at 25mph or going round a corner “too fast” because i need to keep my speed up because there is a steep hill coming.the lads at work usually give me grief because they know i drive like a nanna and we are all getting scrutinised at least once week.

### *---- "If you hate your staff get this installed in your company vehicles"
This app/device will give you Amber/red lights for trying to accelerate to safely get onto a motorway or dual carriageway. Your firm can also penalise you for getting the ambers or red lights. You cannot overtake vehicles without getting warnings. Highly recommend to avoid in my opinion.

Lots of delivery companies use this now. It’s sold as ensuring safer driving, it has nothing to do with that, it’s all about already greedy companies attempting to squeeze costs further by penalising drivers for driving. 
The ‘elite driver status’ is a joke. Unless you drive with your foot on the floor it’s almost impossible to score under 80% and also you’d need to drive entirely unrealistically to achieve a status of 99%. The leaderboard, nationally regionally and by company are designed to promote competition (and people fall for it) with zero reward other than saving a company a few pennies on fuel. It is simply another distraction in the vehicle and another tool to impede the job of drivers in an industry that already finds it difficult to retain staff. 
The competitions feature is designed to get people using the app more, when in fact nobody ever wins the competitions. 
The developers of course cannot solve the issues I’ve mentioned as the functionality of the app does exactly as the demand states from the customer (greedy companies).
I’d advise voting with your feet and working for a company that doesn’t use it. If that isn’t possible, ignore the device in your cab, do not install the app on your personal device (there is zero legal requirement to do so) and maybe with lack of engagement then the demand will disappear.
It’s a winner for the developers so hats off to them but drivers, I’d advise to simply not engage with it, drive safely as you usually do and ignore it. Certainly do not install or engage with this app, just do your job as normal

As others have said it may be good for vehicle efficiency but to the detriment of encouraging dangerous driving, especially on slip roads. 

Also there is no efficiency score for braking etc.

If this is the answer to becoming an elite driver then I’ll stick to what I’m currently doing. Can’t even pass a cyclist without being nudged. Pulling out onto the carriage way with a clear road then suddenly the other vehicles are behind you trying to overtake you as it’s ridiculous how long it takes to build up speed with the terrible Lightfoot. This should be banned. Time will tell.

The easiest way to the best score is to join major roads and not accelerate, causing vehicles doing 20/30/40+ mph more than you to have to avoid you either braking or swerving. And also to not brake for corners to maintain the speed needed to complete your delivery on time without the acceleration penalty being triggered.

### *---- "Lottery reward system that promotes dangerous driving"
I used to get rewarded for good (safe) driving with a bonus to my pay. Now that has been taken away and replaced with a lottery that might  reward you by driving in a way that is dangerous to other road users. I work in an area with dual carriageways and national speed limit roads that have a lot of traffic. There is no way that this device is of any benefit to me and my coworkers. It’s just an annoying voice in the background.

You stated in a comment previously about the Lightfoot responding differently to other vans that have the Lightfoot fitted but we have a fleet of van’s that are all the same spec and same year but they all respond differently to the next van which shouldn’t be the case one van you drive at 25 miles an hour and the voice is telling you to go steady but the next van as stated in a previous comment don’t say or respond to your driving. It’s like they have just been put in the vehicle’s and not set up correctly but it’s is very distracting when driving

It is also noticeable that it is easier to stay in the green when the van has been emptied of the 860 kgs I typically start the day with.
How can that be right
I drove as it wanted and got 99.6 
I will be however driving normally from now on
