Description

The Link app gives you remote control of wirelessly connected Simrad, Lowrance, or B&G multifunction displays from your smartphone or tablet. Link lets you select any wirelessly connected display on board, duplicates the screen in real-time on your mobile device, and puts control of most display functions at your fingertips.

Work with charts, sonar, and radar, control your on-board entertainment system, view data from connected engines and instruments, and much more. With Link, you’re constantly connected to your boat’s key systems from anywhere on board – making it easier to plan trips, fish, sail, handle maintenance, and otherwise make the best of your time on the water.

Link also gives you the ability to wirelessly back up and restore waypoints, routes, tracks, and display settings directly to your mobile device. This makes it easier than ever to protect your valuable boating data against loss or theft, and to keep your backups up-to-date with zero hassle.

The Link app is compatible with Simrad NSS evo3, NSS evo2, NSO evo2, NSS7/8/12*, and GO series displays; Lowrance HDS Carbon, HDS Gen3, HDS Gen2 Touch*, HDS Gen2**, and Elite Ti fishfinder/chartplotters; and B&G Zeus³, Zeus², Zeus Touch*, and Vulcan sailing chartplotters. Displays without built-in wireless connectivity require an additional WIFI-1 module. To enable the Link app, a free software update may be required for your display.

Link works with the Apple iPhone 5s and later devices running iOS 9 or above.

Never works

Voyuer999 on

I’ve been able to pair the app to my Simrad GO9 a couple of times and everything worked pretty well. However, I’ve never been able to save any trip info, waypoints, etc. to the app for viewing at home. In fact, at home I can’t even get it (the app) to bring up ANY information. Lately, every time I try to connect to my on-board Simrad the app says my password is incorrect - IT’S NOT! Can’t even connect. Will delete this app and am searching for a better one.

Sort of works

kwikrench on

Installed this on a new iPad to mirror my HDS Live unit in the back of the boat and the screen mirroring seems to be lower resolution, the transfer button won’t upload my recorded data to C-MAP Genesis, keeps saying “Can’t Login” “Check username and password” yet I can login on the website just fine. Been like this end of summer and now fall. A bit frustrating.

Doesn’t work on my Zeus2 anymore

BumSailor on

Not sure what happened with the newer version but now I can’t connect to share my Zeus screen.

Shake Report

acericson on

Why in the world would you have “shake reporting” on an app that is made to be used on a boat?! Developers are out of touch with users. SIMRAD should invest in fixing this app. It’s 60% there and could be great if they gave it any attention.

Still No Full Sceeen?

NaviWent on

It’s been months since the latest update broke full screen mode. You have responded to other reviews that you are aware of the issue. Where is the fix? Please rollback so that the app is at least usable. The new B&G app doesn’t work with Zeus2. Please fix the link app.

Does not work with iOS 14.3

MichaelJSSmith on

Tried with old iOS versions including iOS 12.5 and app works... poorly (incredibly slow) but won’t connect with iOS 14.3.

Useless for Zeus Touch - part 3 - old GoFree reinstalled

tomkat139 on

Part 1: Upgraded to 4.3.5. As others report simply doesn’t work correctly. Do not upgrade! Need to bring back older version. I am very upset by this. Future hardware upgrades on my Swan will not include Navico unless better software management isGuys: this is important stuff that has to work for additional safety. Put an older version up, even the old B&G gofree worked better and then play to your hearts content. “Working on it” is a poor response when a simple revert to an older version will satisfy your users until you get finish beta testing your sexy new product. Very poor software management. Part 3: B&G GoFree is back on the app store, at least I could pull it from my purchased list now, when before it linked to Link version 4.3.5. It works fine with my Zeus touch. Perhaps Navico has taken their first step toward better software management rather than “app” development. If so, thank you. Wish they could communicated with me but at least I have a working system. Note that “Link” is hard to find on the app store. Maybe they should go back to the GoFree name. A commitment towards legacy support is more important for sailors, but less sexy, than adding unneeded buggy new app stuff for boat show demos with full connectivity. Lets see a move in that direction and i will buy more Navico gear. Last note that leaving reviews seems to be the only way to get a response, however minimal, from Navico.

Amateur Developer

This app will no longer connect to Zeus 2 and the new app they are pushing (because they charge) is not compatible with Zeus2. I’m guessing this is their way of trying to force a device upgrade? Less than helpful responses.

Useless: unreliable and doesn’t use full screen of iPad

VirginiaRiverGuy on

I’ve been using computers since 1979 so I’ve pretty much seen it all. For an app to be this flaky and useless in this day and age is inexcusable. If I had not already spent $2,000+ I would find another brand GPS/fishfinder platform. All I really want to do with this app is sit in the comfort of my home and connect to my Lowrance HDS Live out in the garage to plan trips, manage waypoints and trails, etc. I did this successfully with the app that Lowrance previously provided. However this app is so flaky it freezes, drops connection or fails to connect too frequently to be useful. Even when it works, it won’t use the full screen of an iPad, which the previous app did. Update 12/16/20: After a developer suggested that I use the “Lowrance” app I attempted to use that app and have not been able to get the app to recognize my Lowrance unit. (The iPad is connected to the unit already.) I’ve spent about an hour with Lowrance support trying to get the Lowrance app to work and will resume tomorrow.

Great idea ,poor performance

will_s2565 on

Just like other users in this review have mentioned, great idea but poor performance. Connection loss between fish finder and tablets /phones , and the display issue (panoramic view ) gone away . When will there be a fix ? I’ve seen In several other reviews that it’s being worked on, but have not seen any updates to fix the issue . Very disappointing.
