Linphone is an open source app offering free audio/video calls and text messaging. With Linphone, you can be reachable at any time, even if the app is closed, with a WiFi or 3G/4G internet connection.

* Since IOS10, SIP connections in background are no longer allowed. Therefore, only Linphone accounts (sip.linphone.org accounts) can receive calls when the app is closed, thanks to push notifications integrated within our server.

Don’t waste your time.

Many problems. The worst is that the app has to be in the foreground and your iPhone awake for calls to be received. I have got about 4 crashes in about 30 min of use.

Nice but push notifications doesn’t work.

Nice UI, allowing me to use my self hosted FreePBX with my iPhone but the only thing is that I cannot get the push notifications working, that make this app almost useless as I cannot get incoming calls.

Shows message but folder is empty

voip.ms can’t answer a call

Since last upgrade on my iPhone, There is no push notification to let me know that there is an incoming call.

Pretty decent, needs improvement

Call transfer feature is very clunky and hard to transfer to other extensions. No SIP over TLS. iPhone doesn’t ring when call coming through if app is in background. UI is nice.

Dec10 update stopped working

On my iPad, the latest Dec10 update is not working - app doesn’t open up.

Crashes since last update

It was perfectly fine and the recent update destroyed it. Keeps crashing

Still somewhat unstable

I was excited to try the new features for answering from the lock screen and from a bluetooth device, but I guess they are only possible from iOS 10, not from my iOS 9.3.3. While configuring my voip.ms service, Linphone crashed. When I attempted a call using my Versature service, Linphone crashed. I look forward to using Linphone when it is more stable. Meanwhile, Media5-fone and Zoiper are good alternatives. In Nov 2016 I had offered to help provide crash details to the Linphone mailing list, but did not get a response. I'm not sure how else I can help improve this app, which I really *do* want to succeed.

Crash if it has access to contacts on the iPad or iPhone

Free but buggy

Using iPhone 6 on iOS 9.1 and unfortunately while normal calls mostly work, the screen locks up and freezes even as audio continues. So you cannot send any dtmf.
