## Linphone Description
Linphone is an open source internet SIP phone or Voice Over IP phone (VoIP).

Linphone is an open source app offering free audio/video calls and text messaging. With Linphone, you can be reachable at any time, even if the app is closed, with a WiFi or 3G/4G internet connection.

Linphone key features:

* audio conference calls with various participants
* pictures and file sharing
* Linphone accounts reachable at any time, even if the app is closed (thanks to push notifications)

### **--- "Push notifications suddenly stopped working completely"
Was very happy with this app but recently I’ve had to have the app open and in the foreground to receive calls. I’m registered with linphone.org’s free SIP service so not sure if it’s the app or the server that’s broken, but basically the usefulness of this app has gone to near zero after the push notifications stopped working.

Have yet to make it connect with my SIP provider. Interface has some showstopping bugs around account configuration, such as the inability to save user informattion (such as the ID) or network settings (such as the port). If your provider's port isn't the app's default of 5060, you're going nowhere. Have tried install and reinstall but to no avail. iPhone 5S.

This app works like a charm. The setup wizard is so simple, it's a shame other softphones are as easy.

I like it, but it fails my five star rating due to three things 1) the UI being only OK when it could have a bit more polish and 2) it only works if the app is running on the front, it won't run behind the scenes and finally 3) I thought this would work well with FreePBX and it does for extension to extension, but crashes when accepting a transferred external SIP call.

Oh and free support is not easy to get/find ;(

Nice application! Only issue is that when my phone is on stand by my incoming number to my sip account doesn't ring on my phone unless I launch the application. Also SMS not included yet?

Have installed this on iPad and for some reason the number buttons are not in the right order (line one is 1, 2, 3 and line two is 6, 5, 4!)

Having switched off the video calling (which is on by default) the page is left with a giant blank grey space which is not pretty.

But having said all that, the simplicity of the app is the beauty of it... Works perfectly with sip settings, call quality is good and works with dtmf so can access voicemails.

The only thing I can get working is incoming calls which is a bit of a shame.

But overall... Good and even better given its free!

Great app, I love it. Light, simple and does what it says. It took a while to find where the settings were (they're under the iphone settings), but after putting the details in it works like charm. I use pennytel and this is far better than their rubbish app, in both stability and call quality.

Works perfectly with my local phone account. Simple setting up. No complications. Great voice quality thanks to incorporated codecs. 
If developer could add a feature to add more sip accounts. (well that's asking for too much from a free app) I would gladly pay for it if more accounts could be added, swishing of accounts was in the forefront and not settings; also look more like iPhone native dialer.

Really good sip client app. Would have been ***** if there was a pad tone while connected, e.g. when entering a calling card pin number while connected to the access number!

For a free SIP client this is head and shoulders above the rest, and crucially passes DTMF correctly which Fring does not.
The only issue I've experienced is with the telephone number editing which could be made more like the iPhone's native calling program to be more intuitive.
Call quality is superb, best of any free VoIP client on iPhone, and leaps ahead of Skype.
