LiquidText Reviews

Love it and hope it will get better & better

Noticed crashes, and I have suggestions to improve the app. BUT THIS IS A GEMSTONE OF A PRODUCTIVITY APP: ACTIVE READING in his very best way of ‘doing’ it!

really good product

Raoul J.A. Somers on

I use liquid text to study Italian! Import or scan pdf to the left of the study area. then make notes on a dynamic right working space with visual links to the source on the left. then work with multiple “child work spaces” for translations, vocabulary, grammar or other focus you wish. This product brings absolute joy to my study! Use ipad to enhance your own learning! top top +++

Great app for students! But has dangerous bugs ⚠️

Rachidhimself on

Belgium

Amazing and unique features that are worth paying for if the app worked properly and the customer service didn’t take months to reply. So, there are multiple bugs such as crashing when opening a certain project on my iPad. Contacted the customer support for this issue but they couldn’t fix it. Also they took months to reply😬This meant I had to start my project all over again. Luckily the project was still intact on my Mac, otherwise I would have had lost all my data! And also another recurring and annoying bug is the sync malfunction which causes the sync to stop working across my devices.

No undo function

Nickname0011 on

Very easy to accidentally combine projects, no way to undo changes, no help feature. No way to create a pdf file from scratch.

Lags with more than 20 PDFs, no way to see search hits across multiple docs

Crhumb on

Belgium

LiquidText is ok but could be so much better. It lags when opening more than about 20 PDFs and there is no way to see search results in context across multiple documents (e.g. in a separate search pane for hits like MarginNote or OneNote which could for example be positioned top left) which is a huge drawback for my workflow. Trying to use LT in a live environment (such as a courtroom for patent litigation) where you are not in control of the pace of proceedings is stressful because it lags when resizing (multiple) documents. Search is also slow. Rotated pages also bug when resizing documents. When you extract an image to the workspace and highlight (e.g. text) and then resize the image, the highlighted text is not locked to the image, i.e. it moves, so your carefully highlighted passages are ruined. OCR only being available via subscription is extremely unfortunate. I do not require any of the cloud/sync/multiple device features but there is no way to access OCR without monthly subscription. Perhaps the one-off purchase price should have been higher if the developer is concerned about ongoing revenues. I would happily pay a one-off fee to add this functionality to the Pro version. It would be great if when you type-to-navigate, the document found could be dragged to a particular location on screen (e.g. left or right). Currently you have to select the doc you want to replace, then type, then click to open which is too slow and cumbersome. Importing folders straight to the sidebar sometimes works but is clunky. On Windows it seems you have to add a folder and a file together otherwise the folder is just imported as individual documents. Why? Reorganising takes ages in-app.

Free version very limited

Xander56 on

Belgium

You can barely try anything in the free version, not enough functionality to decide whether to buy the full version

Keeps crashing on iPad

Jürgen on

Belgium

Crashing happens al the time. And the last inputs are lost. When I used it to take notes in lectures, I lost a lot of text. Useless until this is fixed. The possibility to save the annotations to the original pdf is great. But it saves only the pen input and note the text box on the pdf. This makes it less useful

Free but not good

RicFarcol on

Belgium

Free app but without getting the pro version, which is super expensive, you can hardly do anything... hate when developers do that.. just make the app paid.
