It is absolutely ideal for the legal profession. The ability to be able to literally draw connections between points in different documents and between documents and notes is genuinely revolutionary. However it is missing one critical function in lacking a thumbnail view. A thumbnail view is pretty vital, especially in a trial context when it is sometimes necessary to be able to scroll rapidly through a large document bundle, or visually identify a relevant document. The lack of a thumbnail view means that LiquidText unfortunately cannot serve as my principal trial bundle software, which will remain PDF Expert, but will be a very useful tool for case analysis. -- Ninon123, 2024-11-30 ### ***-- "Used to be great" After a recent update you now have to pay to highlight any text. -- Uzumaki1, 2024-11-04 ### *---- "Eh - think I’ll cancel while I still have free trial." The sort order is stable random if you sort by date. This means it is impossible to find your most recent document at the top of the file list when sorting by date. For academic document names using any citation format, this means it is very messy to continue working. As a result, I’ve given up using this. How difficult can it be to list files by modification date? Apparently, much much more difficult than integrating AI or subscription services. I first reported this bug five years ago, and it’s still present. Sort your basics out properly. I’d advise anyone thinking of using this for serious work to look elsewhere. -- StopHasslingMe, 2024-05-08 ### ***-- "Great App - overpriced subscription model" I have used Liquid Text for, inter alia, annotations and linking with other documents to do my research. It works very well in these areas. However, once my current subscription period expires I will be moving to another app. The annual subscription of GBP 175 per annum to be able to sync in “real time” between devices, is a little rich. I see no compelling reason that would require me to view on different devices, in “real time”, what I am doing on another device. An iPad or laptop has the ability to enable one to link to a bigger screen without having to go via the Liquid text servers. A reasonable subscription of around GBP65 -70 per annum would be more palatable and encourage more users to subscribe - pity. -- PeterPaps, 2024-04-23 ### ***** "Great but accidently shut down sometimes" I love this product, and whenever I encounter some problems, there's always someone respond. I find that this app can do more or less the same things in terms of annotating PDFs for uni, but so much faster and efficiently (not general note taking on paper). In addition to having those same functions as Goodnotes, it is just much more efficient. For example with how it allows you to highlight a section in the pdf, and then smoothlessly drag it to the note board. The notes on the board are hyperlinked to the section it was taken from, and so when you click on the note, it takes you straight to the location in the pdf. So good. I had waited for such a function for ages, and im so happy to finally have it. I will say that, aesthetically, the app is quite to my taste, but I am more than willing to accept it for the functionality. -- Holly Ramona, 2024-01-30 ### **--- "Locking too many features behind paywalls." The app is amazing, I should get that out of the way first. Large documents do suffer performance issues but that aside, it’s a fantastic app. However, the issue is now that a lot of features are being kept strictly to the subscription models of the app. I expect this for big or innovative features, but even small features have begun to be shelved into the subscription model. It’s showing a threshold of greed has been reached and when companies reach this threshold, it only goes downhill. It’s been good, but I’m now starting the search into the competitors. -- CarlitoFrost, 2023-11-24 ### **--- "Great for lawyers but recent update has ruined it" I am a lawyer and I use this for case papers. It has, on the whole, been really great. Sometimes it can be a bit buggy, and as one other reviewer identified it strips out all the information from PDF forms, which often appear in case papers. This is rather unhelpful. However, the bigger and more urgent problem is that with the new update (I think there has been an update recently? Or it could be an apple software update? Either way, something has changed) means that even when a document has been OCR’d, the text select function DOES NOT WORK at all! This is extremely unhelpful as I very frequently use this feature to copy and paste text from documents into my notes. You literally cannot copy and paste on this app any more! It also means you can’t post comments or highlight text (unless using the actual highlighter which means a lot of switching between functions). So basically all of the benefits of using LT are now gone and really it is nothing like an e-version of papers anymore. These are such basic functions that unless this is sorted out soon I will be talking to my colleagues to find out what app they use and switching to something else. There is nothing else like it and no other app has had a bigger influence on my daily work than this one. I use it daily, it stores all my key documents and notes and has become the central point in my interaction with my work. The concepts here just really click with me - an infinite canvas onto which you can pull clips of your documents. I always took notes in this way in other apps like OneNote, but the workflow here is so much more focused and efficient than other apps. I also love that you can perform OCR and just type to search text, tags, headings etc. Absolutely brilliant tool. -- benjy_london, 2023-10-17 ### ****- "dark mode" like it but really need Dark mode -- SYahelix, 2023-09-30 ### *---- "Latest Upgrade - Liquid Text" the latest upgrade has made this once go-to app almost useless, it has proved impossible to control the text bloc with the apple pencil, text appearing from adjacent pages, gaps in the text and when trying to isolate a sentence mid-paragraph it just paints the whole paragraph and then jumps to the whole page ... it would be helpful to revert the earlier edition until these real problems are resolved updated September 2023 upgraded to an overly expensive annual subscription which was ‘lost’ by the app, tech support couldn’t identify if payment had gone thru or not - now it crashes on opening and when finally get it to stay open on maybe third attempt to retrieve work before it implodes completely it crashes three of four times during the process of trying to migrate documents to another app … undoubtedly a fine example with the last ‘upgrade’ of trying to fix something that isn’t broke, it was the ‘go to’ app to do clever things in an intense research program : not now, real shame -- Tremoine, 2023-09-15 ### ***** "A week into liquid text" I have tried many pdf reading apps including inbuilt iBooks, PDF Expert, Good Notes, Documents but have been struggling to collect data from various sources at one place and more importantly compare them side by side or link them. This app has given new enjoyment to my work and I am enjoying it so far. I am still learning and I wish I can access instruction videos easily. It seems like most of the videos are for advanced users and not for the naive ones. Hopefully experience will teach me along the way.
