lire: RSS Reader

Description

Love RSS feeds? So do we!!
RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too.
Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does its magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links.
Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds.
Use as a standalone feed reader, sync with iCloud,
or,
sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News, Tiny Tiny RSS.

fabtronik on

France

Color link & other theme

Error_DLL on

France

Super application, it would be so nice to have other themes because the black and yellow theme is hard for me... and an option for colored web links ❤️ and that would be perfect.

Le meilleur

austrasien on

France

Blftaipei on

Lire is just great, notably because it will pre-fetch texts - a function that I have seen on no other reader, and is customizable enough to give a lot of options to make reading comfortable. Those two features together make for a very good experience. Besides it is a good citizen in the iOS ecosystem. I had just one problem: it wouldn’t pre-fetch articles behind paywalls like LeMonde, and now the 6.0 version has solved this by enabling an « inline » viewing where you can first enter your credentials. Congrats to the developer! PS: the app description is too limited I think, behind the main parsing feature, there are lots of great stuff you should emphasize like bionic reading, three column reading on iPad, widgets, dark mode etc. Otherwise the description makes it look like Lire has less features than other apps, which is not true!

RR 000 on

France

Excellent lecteur RSS

PatriceLC on

France

Work perfectly with miniflex

So much better than Reeder, hoping for a text2voice feature, better with self configure option

Garbage App

….can’t read dates in feeds and my “newest” items are dated 2300. UI is convoluted and non-intuitive. I regret purchasing it.

Really good, except for one thing

The full text ability and options to designate different views - in-app browser, regular browser, app reader - is something I've never seen before in other rss readers. Works well on a variety of feeds; I'm very impressed. However, I've noticed an irritating issue with all buttondown email rss feeds. Virtually every time I fetch (both icloud sync and standalone) it re-fetches previously read articles for buttondown feeds as if they were unread. As far as I can tell, whenever it does that it's fetching every single item from those feeds anew. And yes, I can mark all below as read, but having to do that multiple times per day is wearying. Really hope developer(s) can take a closer look at buttondown.

Great, simple RSS Reader

Does what it needs, while also being super customizable (if wanted).
