Voices are definitely not smooth and sections detection (abstract, methods, results...) does not work well.
The interface is great and the app works well while reading more conversational content, but it is absolutely unusable on more formal content. In particular, it is unable to read even the simplest mathematical expressions with subscripts and superscripts. Further bugs (e.g. skipped letters, butchered non-English names, etc.) further aggravate the situation. For the exorbitant price of 15€/month, this feels more like a novelty app rather than an actual tool that people can use in their academic workflow.
The app still needs a lot of work. The voice is not as smooth as promised, and often it reads out loud random things. It doesn’t properly divide into sections and skips some parts. I deleted my account shortly after getting it. Not only is the app not working but they also charged me for a month subscription even if I deleted my account. Make sure you also cancel the subscription on the App Store, or they will take your money for nothing in exchange.
The voice is really smooth and pleasant. However, PDF update it’s a bit cranky, and the link does not always work well. Plus, depending on the article formatting, it does not separate well the different sections and it still reads out things like affiliation numbers, or even references. Overral it does its job, but I was expecting much more for 12$ a month.
I just got this and can’t upload anything. And the UE is not telling me anything. Just wait. 3 to 5 minutes. And nothing happens.
I love the voices on this app they sound more natural then the reading websites my instructors give but it bugs and lags a lot. I like to listen to with it sped up and it lags even more. Sometimes it takes forever to scroll and it takes like 10 seconds just to read the next word sometimes.
I haven't been able to use the app/subscription in any meaningful way. The 'app' itself shows up as a blank screen and I have to go to the website to use. Even then it is not work the $99 annual fee that I paid. I have sent a support request through the website and no response. Seriously considering taking the loss and just switching to Speechify
This app wouldn't even let preview it. It seems like it might be a good deal but when I actually paid for it, it was super slow converting text to speech compared to every other speech converter previewed. Also it doesn't give you the ability to paste text into ai note so that's really important because that's what I actually use it for.
I like to listen to nonfiction articles and sometimes academic papers with a strong humanities and social sciences bent. So far it is serving it’s purpose well with a fair yearly price point. The price point compared to competitors was one of the deciding factors for me. Some features I would recommend to enhance user experience: on conversions of online articles keep the source url accessible after conversion. Also, enhance search capabilities. Can the content in addition to titles be searchable? For notes as well? thank you
