Integrated and Social, but Technically Challenged
locals will be a better app in the long run due to its ecosystem and integration; however, the app is technically challenged. could really use an upgrade with:
-removing countdown duration after livestream is already recorded
-hyperlinks for time-stamped bookmarks, so we can merely click on the link to jump to the segment in the video
-bookmarks consistency, where the bookmarks in description are denoted by current runtime, whereas the media player denotes remaining runtime
-mass “mark as read” notification manager
UI redesign prevents commenting and replies on iPad
I have an iPad Air 4th Gen and while i can create posts, i cannot reply to posts or comments on posts. There is no visible box to input text or visible button to submit text.
I don't have this problem on my iPhone 15 Pro, same app ui update.
I reached out via X to no avail.
Good content. Horrible app.
Some good content on locals but the app is so poorly constructed it ruins the entire experience. Refunding my subscriptions and won’t return to locals.
From 5 to 1 Star Since Redesign
Used to be 5 stars. Now the UI is so bad it’s almost unusable. Bring back the old blog style layout! This modern social media app layout is terrible
Increase you server Threshold
How can you crash on the night of the debate knowing a mass of the creators you host are going to hold streaming over it. It makes no sense and proves your business isn’t the one they should go with.
Version 2.1.2 is a step backwards
Every update to this app makes it worse on iPad. The most recent update will only go into landscape mode while in video. Having to rotate the iPad to scroll through content and rotate it again to watch the content is enormously frustrating.

My favorite part is when you pause a podcast and then come back to it 30 minutes (+/-) later and you can’t just hit play and pick up where you left off but rather have to close the entire app, open it back up and find the program you were watching and then start over and search for the point where you left off. That’s so awesome *rolleyes*.

Past two updates have rendered the app useless
June 12, 2024 Updated Review: even after the Apple OS update that came shortly after the latest Locals update, I’m still not having a good user experience with the app. I have to watch from my browser. I wish I had never updated the app.

When I first downloaded this app it worked perfectly. Also while I didn’t really like the layout of the app, I eventually got used to it. The new layout is even more frustrating like others have mentioned. For the last two updates I’ve not been able to watch the content that I pay for monthly and that’s made a majority of a months service that’s just wasted. So many people are giving the creators grief but it’s not their fault. I really hoped this new update was going to fix the problem. Nope. Got 10 minutes into Predator Poachers video and it’s crashed. Same thing that’s been wrong. I have two other subscriptions on locals and the bugs made it look like I didn’t even pay for them and I don’t have subscriber only content access. Please fix or just roll it back to the format it was before the update that killed the app. It would be nice too for the folks who pay for subscriptions, to have an adjustment that doesn’t come out of the content creators pocket.
Something happened with last update
The update from the week of 6/3/24 has caused the app on the ipad to get stuck in portrait after going to landscape in full screen. You have to restart the app to get back to landscape.
