Logic Pro FAQ
Is Logic Pro free?
Yes, Logic Pro is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Logic Pro legit?
🤔 The Logic Pro app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
After the last update, using Cmd 5 to bring up the Score Editor when a Cycle Range is selected and Cycle is turned on causes Scroll in Play to display the score ~20 bars AFTER the playhead. Repositioning the play head and starting playback again makes no difference - every time you do that, it jumps ~20 bars AFTER the playhead - and then continues to scroll from that viewpoint, which defeats the purpose of having Scroll in Play enabled in the first place.
Didn't anyone test this?
What you gonna DAW?
I'll tell you what I'm gonna DAW! I'm going to make some really bad music on a DAW that is lightyears ahead of my skill. Will I enjoy it? You darn tootin', I will. Will my wife leave me because I just can't seem to stop making those grade school-level beats? Absolutely, but I'll be DAWing alone, all by myself. Well, Craig will be there.
One of the most un-logic-al DAWs
I'd like to start off with the positives of this DAW, because my headline might be a shocker to some. I don't want my review to be bypassed so let me say that for $199, this is an all around steal of a DAW. This software is feature packed with everything you need to get started in music production, sound design, mixing, mastering, you name it. I know some big heads in the industry that use this soelely as their DAW of choice.
With that being said, I can't wrap my head around a few things. When I have to export 'simple audio files' from a client's session, the only way to export 32-bit files is using the AAC format. I cannot export 32-bit float files as WAV format, and it does not give me the option unless I change it to 24 bit which would require dithering at that point. Again, no logic in this sense.
AAC file format might be good for Mac computers, but the industry, for the most part, is using WAV as industry standard. Why punish those who want to work outside of this DAW?
In my experience of mixing in Logic, there is an apparent 'roundness' added to all audio contained in the sessions. I have also made music in Logic and found that to be the case as well. Mixing audio in Pro Tools for instance, you don't get that extra added 'roundness' to everything. This is with no processing on the channels; it's just apparently 'there'. I am not the only one who can account for this sound as well.
Lastly, the music production in this DAW is very buggy. To the point that is tends to kill the creative flow as you have to troubleshoot something like the playhead not wanting to snap to the 1. Why would this happen? It just doesn't make sense to me.
All in all, this is a well 'rounded' DAW for those who are in the Apple ecosystem. But for those that have ventured onward to look, and listen, for other possibilities, I've put my cards elsewhere due to these irritations while working.
Mono file? never heard of em.
If you want to export any kind of Mono audio file, get ready to jump through many hoops. Logic would rather export a Stereo file with one channel silent than export a single channel Mono file.
Excellent
I've been using Logic for about 2-3 years. I'm a multi genre artist so I have experience making just about everything on this DAW. It's pretty easy to get the hang of and there are sevreal videos on Youtube that help a ton. After all of this time, I'm still learning new tricks while being able to work seemlisly on my projects. Incredible DAW, my favorite purchase to date.
Issue with playback on M1 chip
Why in the world would logic crash on my 2021 fully updated macbook pro? Has been happening for a long time, anytime i playbook a loop for a long enough time, it will crash. How could this possibly not be fixed by now.
New Update
I run a prodcutions company and have dealines luckily I can use multiple programs. In addition to poor practice in responding to help about its products Apple know logic pro is outdate but since FL studio and the other DAWs also are made from poor software they feel comfortable releasing tis piece of crap. The DAW doesn't work after heavy troubleshooting by myself and others. Why, becuae of an update I was force to do. I am glad AI is going to take softwre devlopers jobs they are useless.
reason for owning a mac
Most intuitive DAW out there, besides possibly FLstudio. Saw this alot in reviews so... if you are running into processing issues with plugins (especially Alchemy) just bounce in place to audio and mute your midi track. Also check your buffer rate.
The worst thing about logic IMO is its lack of ability to find local samples by name after changing the samples location. To fix, just bounce in place so the audio is saved to the DAW, not being externally routed
Shoo Bop Records
I absolutely love Apple Logic as my digital audio workstation (DAW) of choice. The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making the creative process seamless. The built-in virtual instruments and effects are top-notch and add a professional touch to my productions. The integration with other Apple products, such as the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro, is a game-changer for my workflow. Overall, Logic is a fantastic DAW for both beginners and professionals
A feature idea
It would be nice to get new Plugin Features on this wonderful DAW. One Plugin like sublab XL where it focuses on the SUB section. It give like 100 sounds of subs. It would make this DAW more fun. Then give a plugin that gives the creativity of sound sauce to the vocals like the JuiceBox plugin. It give the plugin like 80 different sauces.
