I’ve been using this program for a while now. It’s stable and very well designed. It started off as a really good tool for search and rescue, I have a trailing dog. But with each new upgrade, the programmer seems to recognize the challenges and importance of quality mapping/information while on missions. I have used other programs in the past, and I find that I no longer. This program seems to have it all. Love it! Lokate is great and for $4 it’s a simple decision to purchase. It’s an excellent investment in getting the most out of trainings. Something that's very important to me is it's flexibility. I'm able to capture information that I feel will be best to track for my dogs further training. I have two dogs and each has completely different styles. So I needed a program to recognize and capture how each dog is unique for the best training possible. -- Dimbooti, 2026-04-12 ### ***** "4.1 is game changer!" I have been using Lokate for almost a year now. But this 4.1 release is fantastic! The track labels are a great way to organize and visualize the map. I love the k9 registry with certifications and vaccinations. Reporting is a very strong feature - you can build your own reports in the phone but the developer also gives you a web tool for this! And with its automatic archiving it also creates a report - I just discovered this. Absolutely SUPER app for just a couple of bucks. -- rose2211009, 2026-03-29 ### ***** "Functional features not found in other tracking and trailing apps" I am finding features unique to Lokate such as the ability to record and recall our and our subject’s training trail in “real time”. The pull out tab of track metrics and weather attribution is another bonus too, recording not only current weather but prior conditions. The opportunity to create my training and mission log template has been helpful as often other apps impose a list. As a new user to Lokate, I was impressed that a non-techy person like me was able to immediately use many of the features. Use with the Apple Watch has been a big plus both for speed and functionality. As the app continues to evolve, I look forward to incorporating more of its features during both trainings and missions. -- DCwatcher, 2025-07-28 ### ****- "Finally, an app for K9s and SAR" The developer’s focus to make this app more and more K9 focus is great. Finally we have something for us dog folks. Still rough around the edges but already useful to record handler data. The 3D map capability has helped me gain terrain understanding quicker and better than I can get from SARTopo. The app works in paralllel with SARTopo so you don’t have to decide one or the other. Developer has said we’ll soon get training logs! Can’t wait to see the next version. -- surveyking190000, 2023-08-12 ### ***** "Simple and purposeful" Simple app, does exactly what it is supposed to do. I wish more developers take this approach and make single purpose apps instead of bloated ones, nice! -- joost4u, 2020-02-19 ### ****- "Great app for surveys and boardlines" I rely on Lokate while conducting herpetological surveys. It's a great tool to quickly and easily record GPS coordinates, a voucher photo, and notes. When the survey is finished, it's simple to share all my results in one .kmz file. My partners at the City of San Diego and the USGS have been impressed. I also use Lokate to keep track of the exact position of boards I place out in the field as AC. I like to use it when fieldherping too. I've noticed that Lokate works well in many areas where Apple Maps barely works. I use Lokate to mark my parking space before I explore desert canyons, out of cell range. That way I can find my way back if I lose my sense of direction along the way. I'm sure there are many, many other ways to use this great app. I highly recommend it!
