The concept is great, and the app design allows it to learn your interests and match you with interesting people. However, my experience was that most of the meetings were a grand disappointment since the matches never showed up for the “lunch” dates. I reached out to customer support a couple of times about this issue as it’s really annoying to set aside time and then have people not show up. However, customer support provided zero response. One way they could easily fix the no-show issue would be to have a deadline by which people need to confirm the appointment, and if the person doesn’t confirm, then the algorithm could match you with someone else. If a person fails to respond X amount of times, they could then be suspended from the app. Perhaps there are a lot of profiles that are no longer active that are being matched- in which case Lunchclub should curate the users. As is, using the app is setting yourself up for a letdown since the likelihood of someone not showing is so high.
I have tried to log in over and over. Sent codes over and over. Enter codes over and over. Just keeps brining back to a log on screen. I’m a huge fan of the app and have had over 10 people sign up per my recommendation. Happy to update stars to 5 if the app would simply work.
Get ready for no shows … Waste of time Just go to LinkedIn and message people
I have used lunchclub for over 18 months and loved it. Lot of great people to meet. Then life when on and couldn’t be as active as I used to. I went back to the app in December and without my knowing got enrolled into automatic recurring meetings. I contacted support 2 time, had the app as “take a pause” for meeting but kept being match. I am personally not a fan of no show and got to reschedule 4 people. So Now I’m done. I just deleted it. Think about transferring your network to LinkedIn with the folks you want to keep in touch, this app is probably (at least not now) a lifetime network app
I am rating and writing a review for the app itself (iPad Pro Gen 2) and not about the platform- the platform is great, had close to 200 conversations). I am using mostly a Chrome browser on Windows and made it work (at the beginning always was using Zoom inviting my matches over chat but the browser experience has improved), but recently had to use an iPad app and while I was able to have a conversation at the end, it was very hard technically. 1. The app works only in portrait mode and does not rotate with the device. It should ok for a phone but I could not keep my iPad on a table using cover’s stand. 2. I could not see chat and meeting room at the same time. 3. When I switched to chat, I could not go back to a conversation screen. I could see a green bar to join a call, but that would open a second meeting room with the same person with double audio (echo) and video. Had to apologize to a person, close app completely and reopen. Since that particular conversation required heavy use of chat, I had to do that several times. 4. The browser version can show prior meetings so I can rate and comment on people and coversations. I did not find that in the mobile app. 5. The LinkedIn icon opens linkedin in the browser rather than in the installed app. Even opening linkedin link in the browser leads to an app. And it does it not in my default browser (Chrome) but in the iPad’s Safary, which is removed from being default browser from pretty much everywhere on my device. 6. I did not find any application settings. Settings page shows settings for the platform/account. 7. Same for the app support (in app store) - opens a platform support Q&A page but not support for the app itself. 8. Quick comment on the opening LC in Chrome browser on the device directly. Unlike any other coomunication site, when i opened a meeting room in the chrome on my device, i could not unblock camera and mic.
I received an email stating that my account has been deactivated because no relevant matches could be found with their AI. I completely understand this, but receiving an email after two days of inputting my personal information that my account has been deactivated is highly unprofessional. I ask this of Lunchclub: Do you think in the future this experience would make me want to join again or share my experience in a positive manner?
Works great until you cannot login and start missing meetings with no way to contact the people you are scheduled to meet.
