## Macquarie Authenticator Description
The Macquarie Authenticator app provides an extra layer of security that helps protect your account and personal information and is our most secure way to authenticate. 

It's a mobile app that sends actionable push notifications for you to approve or deny online transactions and account changes or generate a unique one-time rolling code as an alternative authentication method. You’ll find it’s faster and easier than SMS, and it works more seamlessly when you’re travelling overseas as it’s connected to your device, not your phone number. If you happen to be travelling and you're not connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network, the Macquarie Authenticator app will give you the option to use a rolling code to verify your transaction. 

When you use Macquarie Authenticator, you can rest easy knowing your money and data are even more secure.   

Features include: 
- Receive push notifications for real time authentication to approve or deny online transactions or account changes. 
- Generate unique rolling codes (one-time passcodes) without data connection as an alternative method to authenticate. 
- Tasks allow you to manage pending tasks. 
- PIN, fingerprint* and facial recognition*, to unlock and approve your app for secure approvals.

Forcing customers to use Macquarie’s own app when there are already well established and trusted OTP apps is short sighted. An app for just a single use case is even worse. If you want your own app fine. Just don’t prohibit customers from using their existing OTP apps. Keep it simple.

I don’t inherently dislike the idea of the app, security is obviously important. 

The issue is that the app is terrible. Constantly get errors from it which means I can’t complete the relatively simple thing I am trying to do (in my very secure, already authenticated device). So the whole online banking service becomes terrible, no matter what you do with the main app.

Also doesn’t integrate with the credit card would you believe, which makes it even more pointless. 

There are way better Authenticator apps on the market so why not just integrate with one of those instead? Building something half as good for probably 10 times the cost is a really odd decision.

I didn’t like being forced to install this. I don’t understand why we can’t choose to use existing authenticator apps, or why this needs to be an extra standalone app. The positive reviews are fake and embarrassing - who tf raves about a bank’s standalone authenticator app? Your email comms are condescending too… “congratulations on your commitment to enhancing your security”? I only have this app installed because you’ve FORCED me to install it. Have some more respect for your customers please.

Recent update tells me to turn on Push Notifications. All my notifications are already on. I can’t log in to my account either via app or on website because of this. Need to get this fixed asap!

On iPhone Mini I have to scroll the security notification to the bottom before I can approve. It’s an extra step that increases the inconvenience. Otherwise the app is fine, but I use it because I have to, I would rather have the option to use an industry standard TOTP app for my basic needs.

Never had so much trouble dealing with a bank. If you need to re- set up this app (after changing devices) be prepared to sit on hold for half an hour then have to email them all your ID and a signed request. Every other bank seems to make customer access much easier. Would never choose to willingly bank with Macquarie

I have tapped on ‘verify it’s you’. A message comes up to Enable push notifications. However in my settings, the Macquarie Authenticator app does nod appear. So I can’t turn the notifications on. I have deleted and installed the app multiple times and still nothing.

Trying to get a rate review and QR code system does not work. This bank used to be good for competitive rates. I had a number and could call someone.  They are now getting more evasive and complex and harder to get competitive rates. 

My broker indicates there are better deals. Next interaction will be the transfer notice from my broker.

While I’m at it, if I need to reset my permissions, it’s not possible to re-enable notifications without deleting and reinstalling the app.

I have a suggestion regarding the app. It would be great if it could be integrated into the Macqurie mobile banking app, or if users with a technology background could choose their own authentication app. I understand that security is a concern and not all users are tech-savvy, but providing this option would be beneficial to those who don't want to download an additional mobile app.
