How much does MacroFactor cost?
MacroFactor has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 189.32 zł.
I live in Ukraine. The brand food database here is nonexistent and I can barely afford the monthly subscription which is 2.5% of my salary. But none of it matters. The app is so incredibly good and beautiful that it makes it all worth it. I guess it’s gonna get easier with food, once I add most of the products I use daily.
Anyway, I absolutely love MacroFactor, especially with the code JEFF.
I highly recommend MF to all. Can’t wait to see the results in the mirror!
Review
The app looks amazing however the lack of products in the app as well as standardized US label reader makes the annoying 5 minutes a day into half an hour of manually putting each macro for a new bar code. Has potential however at this state when a simple dinner made out of 5 products can take you 10 minutes to diligently put into the app it’s simply not as convenient as MyFitnessPal. For an app that considers itself premium only it’s not really premium at all. Hopefully it will change in the future so I can try it again.
A good companion.
App is generally fantastic. It is easy in use and rather intuitive. Though the improvement would be to add more languages. This way it would be much faster to insert the nutrition information from the products outside the US. One thing I have to mention tho is the lack of horizontal view. It really bugs me especially when I use this app on my iPad. So my kind request is, could you add the horizontal view option, please? :)
Game Changer
This app is a game changer ! The built in nutrition coach algorithm take out all the guess work out of dieting and will prevent you from spinning your wheels in the wrong direction for weeks or months! It will help you achieve your goals whether it’s building muscles or losing fat. You’ll have to invest a little extra in logging food because the food database is more limited than MyFitnessPal for example, but that’s a small price to pay (especially given the amount of wrong food entries plaguing MyFitnessPal in recent years)
Calorie Calculator
Putting aside the lack of Polish products in the food log, the error that struck the the most was my energy expenditure. Being a 170cm and 62kg (F), the app calculated a 4500kcal maintenance (lifting and cardio level intermediate). That just doesn’t sound right. After correcting it to 2000kcal, the app gave me an estimate of 1150kcal per day to lose weight (note that’s weight not fat). That’s really low for a “standard rate”. Also there’s no way to change your maintenance after that.
Additionally, the protein intake which I chose was average and was given a 163g per day (there’s no way to change that either). That’s almost 3x my weight in kilos, while eating more than 2x can couse hormone imbalance, especially for women.
For an uneducated user, eating like that can couse serious problems.
That being said, I love Jeff’s content, but this app just doesn’t cut it.
App
Nice looking app, good database, but still missing some polish products. Way too expensive. But the main reason for 2 stars is No integration with Apple HealthKit. Honestly i read the explanation and i cant agree with it. For example: how the app Is going to calculate my kcals if Ill do 20 minutes cardio this week, after week 30 minutes, and maby then 40. The app Imo just cant calculate in propper way calories basing on measurements. Just because algorithm is pure math, the app should receive lots of data, so maby measurements each day? Maby Every 2 days …
Soap
Still poor food list mostly seems focus on us so when I’m in Europe I can’t find something. I love the design of the app. Please…the form for the new year with the weight in pound no! It’s 2024 and it’s time to go ahead!
Optimistic
My wife & I have tried a couple of these macro counting app with varied success. In the long run they seemed a bit undeveloped.
My daughter recommended MacroFactor and we are enjoying the comprehensive food database and intuitive use of features.
I feel good about long term success.
Best macro tracker
I have tried so many apps for tracking macros. After using WW for a year, I realized I wanted more focused macro counting and began the search for an app that would have it all - trending, customizable, solid support and backed by science. Very lofty expectations and I found it in MacroFactor(after using My Fitness Pal, Cronometer, Healthi just to name a few)!! While it might be overwhelming at first to use the app given all the information, if you take some time to learn it will be well worth it. As you keep using the app you end up building your food library and I have many recipes now created in the app. I read the articles in the blog and as a physician was impressed with the level of detail represented. I love the integration with Apple health as that is integrated with my scale. The algorithm takes some time to get used to your intake and expenditure and becomes more accurate in over time. While I don’t love spending money on apps, this was well worth the annual fee. The trends are a nice way to see progress, the ability to track weight, body measurements, nutrition all outstanding. What I love even more are the different strategies presented when you sign up and set your goals. Truly the most flexible app I have seen with very responsive support. The Reddit page is active and helpful for guidance as well. This app is so much better and with some marketing can be the leader in the space.
Very easy and convenient!
Really enjoying the app, esp. the bar code tracker! Looking forward to a 2025 where I eat good for once!
