I can read one piece for free and it’s high quality

It’s very good but I wish this app had the volumes on it although it’s a small thing I really want to read volumes instead of chapters

Because of Manga Plus’s new policy, I cannot read the manga that I downloaded the app to read without a subscription because it was recently finished. I figured I would try it out to see if it was worth it. It is not. Loading errors and issues repeatedly, poor image quality with heavy pixellation and noise despite setting the image quality to ‘high’, unreadable smaller text, and issues with Shueisha’s translations. I did not appreciate the “subtle” self-advertising by inserting their name as “Shoowaysha” into any referenced publisher within the manga I was reading. There were numerous typos and sentences that didn’t make sense, untranslated parts, and inconsistent and inaccurate localizations. I would hope that any licensed or “official” translation would strive to represent the original text as closely as possible, without errors or incessant irrelevant references. Just read the manga online elsewhere. There are a ridiculous amount of missing quality of life features too. Why can I not quickly resume the manga I was reading? I have to go to my favourited mangas, and then scroll down to the in-progress chapter. If I leave the app even briefly to respond to messages in another app or Google something, it’ll send me back to the first page of the chapter as well.

Happened just today, app keeps crashing when I boot it up.

Edit: This problem has been fixed and comment moderation is a lot better. I’ll leave this review up for archival reasons, but I’m happy the spam has been taken care of. I love being able to keep up and find new manga, and all for free too; but the comments are filled with “free Palestine” spam and Islamophobia spam, which ends up burying actual comments about the relevant manga.

MangaPlus is the gold standard: high quality scans right from the publisher, cheap subscription, huge range of Jump titles from outside of Shonen Jump too. Just astonishingly good. My only major con: not very friendly for use on multiple devices as subscription is tied to apple ID rather than email.
